Mr. Gilbert was like a second father to me. I met him when I was five years old, when I met my friend Dan. He taught me many valuable things. When I got into trouble he would come by my parents house to talk sense into me. He was the only one who ever did that, I will never forget him. Hopefully I will see him again someday.

Hey dan. Dont know me but i remember you. And went to school with you at east jh. Im sorry buddy, wouldn't wish this on anyone. Always felt for you and your family. I was friends with stephen peraino. Johny defalco and all these guys on the east side of brockton. Went to ashfield and graduate 85 at bhs. Always felt bad for you about your dad. Just ran across this and well, your dad was an awsome cop taking care of us brocktonians. You're a good guy, wish i could have hung out and knew you better. You always seem like a good guy. Take care buddy and just know, someone out there appreciated what your dad did for us.

Thirty Four years have passed since you were taken. The fate of the drunk who took your life is not known, but we can only hope and pray he/she learned a valuable lesson from your sacrifice.

Sergeant Gilbert, today marks the 25th anniversary of the tragic accident that took your life. Is accident the proper word? Probably not considering that the driver who killed you was drunk.

After all this time, many have moved on, Brockton PD filled your position with a new person and some may have forgotten you, but you will never truly be gone from those you left behind for you will forever be in their hearts and minds and though your position in the PD may be refilled you can never be replaced.
