John, I never had the pleasure to meet you. You and I are cousins.Your Aunt Ann Finnegan O'Rourke was my Grandma. I have known stories of you for a long time. I have just completed my 15th year of service on the job and never turn out for patrol without thinking about you and your sacrifice. Rest in deserved peace. Tommy

Detective Joseph McNeely and Detective Edwin Lambert, who both made arrests of persons resposible for the murders of Dectectives Fallon and Finnegan, both passed away this year. It was no secret that the murder of those Detectives haunted them for the remainder of their days. God bless all of them.

Uncle John,
Even though I never had the chance to meet you, my mother told me how wonderful of a person you were. I take much honor in being named after you!!
Your loving nephew,

Each day I try to read the ODMP. Today I read your story. Any officer who dies in the line of duty will always be remembered for his sacrifice. You died a hero. Rest in peace Officer Finnegan.
