Reflections for Trooper Salvatore J. Embarrato
Having just returned from the Tarrytown memorial for this brave trooper and Trooper Ambrose, I wish to convey my condolences to your family. Although I was not even born when you were lost, your loss was felt by every man, woman, and child at that ceremony. You will never be forgotten. God bless you and your lovely family. It was a pleasure to meet them and remember you. Rest easy Trooper.

Mom carried this prayer in her purse till the day she passed away.
Build us a son, Oh Lord, who will be strong enough to know when he is weak and brave enough to face himself when he is afraid; one who will be proud and unbending in honest defeat, but humble and gentle in victory. Build us a son whose wishes will not replace his actions, a son who will know Thee and that to know himself is the foundation stone of knowledge. Send him, we pray, not in the path of ease and comfort but the stress and spur of difficulties and challenge, here let him learn to stand up in the storm, here let him learn compassion for those who fail. Build us a son whose heart will be clear, whose goal will be high, a son who will master himself before he seeks to master others, one who will learn to laugh, yet never forget how to weep, one who will reach into the future, but never forget the past. And, after all these things are his, we pray that he have enough sense of humor to always remember the simplicity of true greatness, the open mind of true wisdom, the meekness of true strength. Then, we his parents will dare to whisper we have not lived in vain.
Mom and Dad DID NOT live in vain. You were and are that son, their gift from God.
