I know Kenny is in Heaven! I saw Kenny for the last time that night. It was raining and I was working the PM shift Kenny and Tommy were the night Detectives. I was driving to the S.D. Fwy headed home. I saw Kenny and Tommy in their White Nova headed to Vermont area. As with many others Kenny has always been in my thoughts. He was a great Deputy Sheriff and a terrific person. Even though I was a Trainee he always treated me as an equal. He is missed and will always be.

You were unlike anyone I ever met. Your dedication to your profession amazed me beyond imagination. Your kindness, your tolerance of others was something that every human being should take notice of.

The day I met you at the Lennox Station in 1976 I thought this man has the Eyes of an Angel, I was so right.

Rest in Paradise Deputy Kenneth Douglas Ell you will remain now and forever in my Heart.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 30th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never dimishes respect and your memory will always be honored and revered.. I pray for the solace of all those who love and miss you for I know the pain and pride are forever. Your family is in my heart's embrace today.

Rest In Peace

Deputy Ell - Back in December 1985 I attended the Officer's Survival Course in San Luis Obispo. Among the presenters was Ret. LASD Lt. McAndrews. He told the story of you and your partner Dahlman surving a very violent encounter with multiple suspects. Almost 20 years later, at an LASD funeral I got to meet Cmdr. Dahlman and shake his hand, telling him of my respect for the both of you.

Maybe one day, if we're all found worthy, we'll get to hear the story from you, Sir. Thanks for your service to the people of the County of Los Angeles and the state of California. May God grant you eternal rest and may His perpetual light shine upon you.

I worked Lennox Station with Ken while I was a Reserve Deputy Sheriff (69-74) I always looked up to him as a friend, mentor and Outstanding Deputy Sheriff. He also taught me the meaning of tenacity in the Martial Arts field as we trained together in a Lennox Dojo. I've never forgotten his perls of wisdom "ALWAYS DO THE RIGHT THING". It's been a long time since I've had the pleasure of his company, but he'll never be forgtten.
