Reflections for Patrolman Joseph John Daly

Joseph John Daly was my great grandfather. My grandma was to be born 5 days after her dad died in the line of duty. It is surreal to finally see a picture of a relative that so many of our family talked about. (I agree, Toni, there is such a resemblance to uncle Joe, your grandpa!)

This photograph (the only picture I have ever seen) is of my Great Grandfather. All of my life I have heard stories of his death and decided to google his name. To my surprise and delight I am seeing a strong resemblance to my Grandfather Joseph John Daly Jr.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 94th anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to be among the first to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.
