Reflections for Police Officer William Coleman Cook

If tenacity is to be toasted, then resolve and resiliency must never be roasted and done away with. Only the best of heroic honor, decency and desire, Officer Cook, allowed you the chance to forever shape and change the landscape of all Dade County to one of harmony and everlasting pursuits of happiness and prosperity. Your life and career certainly mattered as a hero for your beloved family and treasured and brave comrades in arms. You protected with might and scruples, always showering respect for nature and faithfulness directed toward mankind. We the people are forever indebted to your heroism and passions which helped you motivate and lead other souls through danger and peril. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. It has been left to other humble public servants to cultivate your legacy where respect and honor were not just passed out. You reap what you earn. The Cook Family ascribed to these morals and principles of value.

Humility, humbleness and heroism are the basic tenets of honesty, dignity and integrity. If none of these are utilized properly then violence will just skate around causing all sorts of impending destruction to go along with mayhem, bedlam and complete chaos. That day, Officer Cook, May 16, 1979, you and your last partner, Reserve Officer Scott Lincoln arrived at a scene voluntarily in Dade County in the Liberty City section and tried with all your fighting might and strength of heart and character to get a man to give up . He refused and the aftermath was just terribly sad for your family, department and many friends and close acquaintances. You gave your life for service to reach peace and to broker bonds of faith and goodwill to all society. Certainly, a badge and a uniform wore humbly, humanely and to be cherished and revered forevermore! Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Racism and anti-semitism still exists today with the help of God and your immortal soul maybe the impact will be lessened. I hope your colleagues who were shot and almost died, Officers Edgerton and DiGenova are doing well.I know Officer DiGenova still suffers from the affects of being nearly killed. You were a hero and one of his best friends on the department and away from work.
