Humility, humbleness and heroism are the basic tenets of honesty, dignity and integrity. If none of these are utilized properly then violence will just skate around causing all sorts of impending destruction to go along with mayhem, bedlam and complete chaos. That day, Officer Cook, May 16, 1979, you and your last partner, Reserve Officer Scott Lincoln arrived at a scene voluntarily in Dade County in the Liberty City section and tried with all your fighting might and strength of heart and character to get a man to give up . He refused and the aftermath was just terribly sad for your family, department and many friends and close acquaintances. You gave your life for service to reach peace and to broker bonds of faith and goodwill to all society. Certainly, a badge and a uniform wore humbly, humanely and to be cherished and revered forevermore! Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Racism and anti-semitism still exists today with the help of God and your immortal soul maybe the impact will be lessened. I hope your colleagues who were shot and almost died, Officers Edgerton and DiGenova are doing well.I know Officer DiGenova still suffers from the affects of being nearly killed. You were a hero and one of his best friends on the department and away from work.
