Reflections for Police Officer William Coleman Cook

For some officers police work is their social life. They dedicate themselves to those they serve. At least, Officer Cook, you had passions outside of your daily duties, taking pictures of nature and hunting. I know you wanted to join the crime scene as a photographer because of the dangers on the streets of Dade County. I'm sorry just as your family and colleagues that you never got the chance. You had the charisma, charm and trust of the entire unit and with your unassuming dignity, integrity and honor would have made an excellent addition to the unit. God has blessed and rewarded your heart and soul for composing character, commitments to pride and in excelling in your chosen profession. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. You married a wonderful woman in Karen and had a lovely family, I'm sorry I never met you or your parents and sister. At least I met Gina and her family and your nephew Justin. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Your letter Mrs. Cook, I'll forever cherish!

A trustworthy and honored public servant does not need hyperbole to carry their journeys and missions. Mankind and humanity bestowed the humility and dignity within your heroic heart of integrity, Officer Cook. A fine man, a caring professional, confident and very humbly courageous. It was your willingness to go above and beyond duty, the extra mile if you will to provide more than a whiff or scent of serenity and valid safety for one and all. Our Maker has your angelic character concealed within His walls where he watches over you and His flock of heroines and heroes, legends who went by the book and possessed scruples, ethics and values to be forevermore cherished. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

See to the very last day, Officer Cook, heroic virtue saved Dade County. Your honor, integrity and dignity were upended by a cowardly and evil human being. You made every officer take note. Dependability, accountability and perpetual motion all can master whatever needs to be built for tranquility. Your heart, soul and spirit of character and concern can watch faithfully over its building. The labor is hard, the challenges are tall. You never wavered nor backed away. Such a wonderful angel enriching God's channels of courage. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Poised and deliberate to throw a net of capture over those who seem inclined to commit crime and uproot the stability and harmony of a community. You accentuated your goodwill, hope and faith, Officer Cook, heroically over Dade County. Its special dignity and integrity have never once stopped being felt. As humble as you were and as broad ranged as your heart was you always understood and treasured your esteemed reliability never yielding to this awful violence. It's certainly a heavy burden your beloved family shares in the scope of responsibility. They continue their lives keeping your soul close to them every second of the day and night.

Terror tramples upon society and just keeps on stomping. When will it all end? When one day good and dependable men and women with eyes, ears, heart and character take fortitude and tenacity to a higher level than now. Not that most police officers don't, it's just something so special and virtual that makes a difference. It made that impression upon the citizens of Dade County when you served them, Officer Cook. So paced and so meaningful, your direct honesty, integrity and dignity was the knight in armor so graceful and yet so morally compassionate. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.
