Reflections for Police Officer William Coleman Cook
And by drawing this primordial man who is also us, we draw the universe. And by envisioning the heavens, we portray our own human consciousness. We might be in another world if not for the many brave and courageous police officers who go out of their way, risking their very lives for our safeties, peace and prosperity. And you were among the most honorable, dignified officers of integrity and grace, Officer Cook. Where might we all be now without your loyalty and faithfulness to your professional duties? And what would be if you maybe didn't answer that chilling domestic call on May 16, 1979? The answer is your courage and conviction took you to an area that you patrolled many other times, you tried your utmost, your best to stay focused in talking a troubled young man into surrendering before other lives were harmed or heaven forbid lost. You fought the battles of evil with all your resources and your actions as stated by your Chief and your comrades was what Officer William C. Cook, their colleagues, friend and Godsend would do do assist his fellowman. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. You endeavored by example and passion. This is not something new for us, it is just something to followed, kind of like sage advice.

The history of humanity might have been the life span of one man. and just this is the idea: That within each of us is the blueprint for the universe. We are it. It is of us. We are all a part of this universe. Notions of big and small are only irrelevant and confusing if don't take the moment to relish, cherish and to appreciate the opportunity to do an action that will better serve us and in reality make this a better place to live and thrive. If we look at all of our heroes and heroines who for eight, ten or however many hours a day they go out in the streets and protect us while risking their lives, we can't imagine what reality goes on, because we are not in their shoes. Of humble and respected public servants like yourself, Officer Cook, we can look in the mirror and say with clarity that you were there in honor, humility, bravery and in valor. You served with the respect, dignity and integrity that only the good servants possess and they go about their business carrying this with them for their entire lives and careers. This is why and was why you achieved, Officer Cook. Your calmness and self-confidence was evident as was your passion and pride. Your legacy rests on the foundations of excellent ethical standards, morals that all police officers need to wear on their person, so when they don the uniform and pin that badge to their chest they know it needs constant thought and a mind set of knowing the responsibilities their position carries. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Police history will show you were of the very best listeners and carried your wisdom and maturity to a higher level than some of your own colleagues.

Shine it out into space and as our visionaries are beginning to understand. It will ultimately define a perfect circle, which will return undiminished to its Creator. Each one of us at each moment stands between the start and finish, at the center of a circle. In the middle of a sphere of light. To the extent that we are aware, light is to unawareness what holiness is to the profane world. To what you meant to your family, to your police comrades and to society as a whole, Officer Cook, no one could have ever imagined something so tragic would have ended your life and professional police career at such a young age with so many more things left to accomplish. But make no mistake, the light of that torch you lit over forty years ago has never ever be extinguished. Light is sown for the righteous and you my neighbor, friend and hero lived your life based upon the principles of faith, loyalty and honesty. The dignity, integrity and bravery stayed with you your entire watch. Now in heaven you can continue patrolling those golden streets where God makes certain no harm will come your way. Rest in peace. God implanted a very sense of keen vision within your giving spirit.

Hidden. Imprisoned. Depending on us. It is up to us to make this world a better place to live in. One does not need to look to hard to find dignified men and women, police officers circling the streets to make certain we are safe. To become aware is to get closer to Our Creator. He is the source of everything that we should believe in. With a divine prayer were we created. The light of recognition should not flicker. Many worlds were created, each one failed, until at last God made something a little like Himself. Light in the shape of a person. We are the result of the drive and determination for awareness. To understand this concept, we should endeavor to create more light, more spark within ourselves and in others. You created a spark of goodwill, Officer Cook, now all these years after your untimely passing, that flame has still stayed lit. Your unselfish devotion and bravery under fire still resides in all of those who worked with you and were close to you, those who respected and admired your work ethic and talents and you had many. I think your sincerity and humbleness, along with your invaluable sense of humility will stay with all who cherished you, your legacy is all a part of what it means to live and to act as a hero, you certainly validated that point and forevermore on May 16, 1979. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. From the heavens above shine on for a job well done! From a light came a wonderfully kind and uplifting spirit in yourself, Officer William C. Cook. I'm proud you were my neighbor and friend even though we never met. Friends like yourself do not come around everyday. Heroes certainly don't come any humbler or more humane than yourself.

A light that if it fell into the hands of the wicked could return creation itself back to primordial chaos. A light that had to be hidden away. And God made a separation. A light that was set aside for the righteous. This light whose brilliance begins creation. Light is the genesis of existence and this existence hides the light. The mystery of creation and all its work, those who comprehend will understand. The light of your precious soul, Officer Cook, stills shines quite brightly and all because of your honesty, dignity, integrity and a renowned sense of commitment, grace, calmness and valor. Our heroes and heroines of the law enforcement profession do deserve our salutes for risking their lives in order for the rest of society to live, prosper, thrive and to aspire to reach loftier goals. All the things your loving and giving parents preached to you and your sister, Nancy. Lessons that stayed with you both all of your lives and careers that you chose to pursue. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Your courage helped keep the flames of hope and optimism burning ever so brilliantly today as it did when you started in 1973 as a Metro-Dade Police Officer. District Two truly had one of its finest officers patrolling its venues where peace, unity and freedom can stay anchored securely where it belongs today and forever.

Humbleness and humility are tied together and as long as we have police officers who operate and function under this mantra, the citizens have no fears. It's when an officer strays from the ranks and keeps his or her own agenda separate from their department, then this is where things can go wrong so quickly. You were the consummate professional, Officer Cook. And it was your unwavering commitment and dignity to proudly serve and protect that made you a successful officer. You still had more to offer this world, at least your family, colleagues and friends knew you were the nicest and most sincerest person they came to admire. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Your calming nature helped to alleviate much of the torment, turmoil and tension that existed back then in Dade County. Thanks so much for caring.

It is not the critic who counts: the credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again; who knows great enthusiasms; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement. And who at worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly. Dare greatly. Well you dreamed, Officer Cook. You aspired. You had goals and you were a confidentially inspirational gentleman. Your police work spoke volume son a humble scale. It was a matter of putting that puzzle together in a reasonable and dignified manner. All the cogs on your wheels were running in unison. This is one of a police officer's main objectives and that is to maintain the peace, liberty and unity in a community they cherish and are given the awesome task of serving and protecting. Your service my neighbor, friend and hero was one of grace, gallantry, crystal clear vision associated with your bravery and valor all supported by the pillars and cornerstones of wisdom, calmness, honor and integrity. Rest in peace. If you don't succeed at first, you must keeping trying, for we know this is the officer's motto in waging war against wickedness. One day this will be stamped out. Let us pray and hope that springs eternal.

Light is the metaphor for human awareness. Shining just between matter and energy. Being between space and time. Something which is not a thing. Like fishes in the water, we do not know the light is there. For if every bit of it were gone, there would be more darkness. There would be spiritual oblivion. If it were not for You, O Lord, we would be blind. In Your light do we see light. In your shining soul, Officer Cook, do we see the light. Maybe we have not taken our lives and careers as seriously as you did. The light was always on in your home, as this drove you to lead and to live a life of contentment, good health and peace. All this was steered by humility, honesty, dignity and integrity. The light of your diligence, devotion, desire, dedication and determination achieved through bravery, courage and valor are what humble legacies are made of. They all start in one's home and through the solid foundation's of one's upbringing from their loving parents. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. The light you first lit over forty years ago, Officer Cook, that started your career has not and will not ever be extinguished. No hero or heroine who gives their life for a purpose shall have this snuffed out, as you live on spiritually in the hearts and souls of your dear and beloved family members.

Not wishing to dwell within or savor, or even understand their own, or their loved one's encounter with the frightening power of holiness. The spiritual person is like a boatman, a pilot on the river. He does not comprehend the river, nor can he predict its currents. He only knows the way to the other side. You were a fine gentleman, Officer Cook, you were even more a truly humane and humble police hero. You were loved by all. You were admired for having the decency, integrity, dignity and bravery to head face to face on May 16, 1979 with evil and your success came through your ultimate sacrifice in saving your comrades from peril and those civilians from the very same fate. Fate takes us to venues we may never want to reach and five minutes before you were going to end your shift, there you were, Officer William C. Cook, Badge#1664 performing in an outstanding manner. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. A job well done. A conviction of caring and consideration seen by all residents of Dade County. Your boldness and resolve all are now part of your legacy. Never to be forgotten. You knew your direction in life and made your family quite proud!

Seeing the life comes full circle from the time of our birth until the time we pass, it is incumbent upon us to endeavor to do good deeds, actions that will make our loving parents quite proud. There are traces that we leave behind in space and in time as we walk the very face of this earth. Stones are as much a part of this world as are the trees that bear fruit to eat. Everything changes we hope for the goodness of society. God so to speak waits for our appearances backstage, eventually all the questions will be answered and we will see all of eternity from one end to the other. A light is lit for the fetus above its head and by it it looks and gazes from one end of eternity to the other. God appears when one thing is completed and when another thing takes its genesis. We set out on our journeys through life and our chosen careers or professions, we ask for Your blessings when we come and when we go. We ask in the name of God, His blessings for bestowing upon us an honest, dignified man of integrity in Officer William C. Cook. Officer Cook, you were one of the many superb and humane public servants, one went searching for peace, liberty and unity while out on your daily patrol over Dade County and its citizens. Your bravery, courage and valor made you as confident a police officer as Metro-Dade Police Department's ever seen. Your knowledge, skill set and maturity cast no doubt regarding your faithfulness, loyalty and devotion to the calls of duty. Your outstanding and committed life and career will always shine as brightly as does your treasured soul now in heaven. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Your life, Officer Cook, sadly came full circle while you still had many things left to fulfill. You'll always be fondly remembered. If only the young man, troubled as he was thought before committing a heinous and ignominious act of violence that took you from your family, colleagues and friends. One day all the questions will be answered with clarity.

Is death the amnesia separating one life experience from another? It may be the enemy for those who seek to hold on to this world in order to control and possess. For those looking to control or have, even the quest for immortality is but another way toward acquiring. It is said when one has passed, let them rest, as we know, at least we hope most know this, their wonderful souls travel that heavenly ladder ascending to God's golden shelter where humble heroes and heroines such as yourself, Officer Cook, now patrol these golden streets where no harm will ever come your way again. No harm or heaven forbid a tragedy should ever come anyway. Police officers know the risks, dangers and perils that are out in those streets where they patrol with courage, bravery and valor. You were aware my neighbor, friend and hero, yet you answered the call saving seven lives in a short span of time. Only outstanding and quite humane. But, this was your loving and kind nature to do good deeds while you were on this earth. You succeeded beyond what we as ordinary people might be able to accomplish. Eternal time is only awareness. So for all of these years and decades later we look back, reflect and salute you for your honor, integrity and dignity and fortitude in serving and in watching over Dade county's citizens. Rest in peace. No one forgets the loss of their loved ones unless heaven forbid they develop amnesia, dementia or worse. Hopefully, we all can stay healthy, productive and prosperous. In this way we can best serve God in helping make this world a little better.

There are two ways of experiencing the flow of time. In modern secular days, time is infinite. It's without beginning or end. And since no two moments ever coincide, each minute, day, week and year must have its own unique number. In religious time, on the other hand, the flow of time began with God's word and in the creation of the world. It starts with God's word and shall conclude with God's word. That word by the way is the ultimate redemption by the Messiah. Science and math have helped shape the world. As do all people, who we hope are honest and law abiding citizens.Police officers serve and protect us for a common purpose. They must stay unbiased, show up to their professional assignments with honesty, dignity and integrity. Staying fearless, brave and valiant are all the materials that help shape a solid career. You had these Officer Cook and so much more if only God had given you more time on this earth. You were born on November 30, 1953 and from that time until your last watch on May 16, 1979, you were the humble epitome of what is meant by a hero. You grew up in a first class home with your sister, Nancy. You both learned your lessons from your two loving and wonderful parents, Charles and Julia Cook, Mr. and Mrs. Cook. You lived your life and served Dade County citizens based upon these morals and ethics. Your maturity, wisdom and stellar insight all carried you for your twenty-five years, six of these working very hard and with a compassion, devotion and loyalty to your department and its men and women of distinction, your colleagues. You won't ever be forgotten for your heroic actions that day that forever enhanced the sphere of the community where you were respected and admired and where you provided the people with the safety, serenity, peace and unity they so dearly yearned for. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Time marches on. Memories stay planted at the hands and feet of your dear loved ones as does the beautiful and humble legacy that you left for all others to follow.

With those who are standing here with us today in the presence of the Lord Our God and with those who are not here with us today, we pray for them. Everything returns. Comes back to that which it was. That is not futility. It is fulfillment. Generations come and go. The earth remains forever. The sun rises and sets. The stars come out at night. All and all, your heroic deeds, Officer Cook, have come back and humbly enhanced the lives of the people you were bravely and valiantly serving. Protecting our rights and honor is something that should not be taken for granted. Nothing should be taken for granted. Your life and career meant something, it meant the world to your family, colleagues and friends who have to fight back the tears to remember your dignity, courage and most of all, your integrity. All this has to be earned and not taken for granted. One learns their lessons by steadily climbing the ladder one rung at a time. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Relationships are important. So are people who humbly speaking perform dangerous jobs in which they place their lives in peril for our freedoms, safety and security. You were one of these people, Officer Cook, who needed no fanfare, no elaborate announcement. Whenever you went out on patrol, the residents of all Dade County knew you and they respected at least most of them did, your authority. You made many friends from your department and outside of the department just because of who you were. A competent, caring and courageous young man whose whole life and career was centered solely on serving and protecting with everlasting dignity, integrity and honor. The pride you had when you first put on your police uniform, one could only imagine what if you were able to take it off and retire when your colleague retired, Officer Frank Piloto, who retired November 10, 2000. That would have been twenty-seven years with the department. Now my neighbor, friend and hero as you rest in peace nearly thirty-six years later all the what ifs, should and could of a life and career that was just getting started, though you were a six year veteran of the department. You will be fondly remembered and saluted for your unselfish sacrifice to bring peace and salvation to an area starving for it. You paid the dearest of prices and those who lived in North Miami Beach, Florida and still live here as my family still does, you would be well regarded. You dared. You cared. You shared. You were committed. Your acted as all police officers should in times of trouble and duress.

There are times when we act out of fear, panic or desperation. Maybe we are a bit bewildered, maybe we are grateful and humbled for having the many dignified and bravely courageous men and women in the law enforcement community serving and together protecting our common interests. Each lifetime is the pieces of a giant jigsaw puzzle. For some there are more to put together than others. There are those who find the puzzle quite hard to assemble. Some are born with a nearly completed puzzle. And so it goes. Souls travelling this way and that way trying to piece together the myriad of parts. In reality, no one has all the puzzle parts, it's God who has placed the pieces together and now it's time for us to act in an orderly fashion to piece together these parts in honor and with clarity, dignity and an abundance of integrity. We carry our puzzles, their pieces, others take with them our parts. We display ourselves to God who has created us each according to the image He sees fit. Some was your life and police career, Officer Cook, no square pegs in any round hole. The pieces and all their parts fir quite nicely and very neatly. Your whole life was well balanced and properly maintained in order for you to maximize all of your God-given talents. Bravery, sheer courage and a valor all validated what we who knew you, knew you to be that truly inspirational young man. A true humble hero who dedicated his whole life and career to fighting the negative forces of evil. When we now forever take a look back at that awfully tragic day of May 16, 1979, it was and always will be a date of proper reflection, fondly remembering your commitment to serve all residents of Dade County in truth, justice and in an unshaken voice of calmness with the passion needed to raise the level of compassion you had for all who respected, admired and proudly salute your sacrifice from the bottom of their hearts. Your soul, your memory will always be implanted within your loving family members, esteemed comrades who knew and realized all of your wisdom, insight and maturity that was beyond your years. The scope as your friends would say placed you ahead of the crowd in both humanity and in humility. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Figuring out how to piece together God's puzzles can sometimes be a rather complex task. But, a chore, a serious challenge we must face if we are going to survive and thrive in an ever changing world in liberty, unity and peace. The decency and decorum you displayed, Officer Cook, certainly bears out your devotion, desire, determination and an exceeding immeasurable amount of dedication to duty.

When angels, God's guardian angels, police officers are sent into the streets to do battle against evil, they are changed into winds and when they spread the word of God, the proviso of peace and unity into their chosen communities, they are like ministers of defense, for it is with their unwavering faith and loyalty, supported by their wisdom, knowledge, bravery and valor that the citizens can live and thrive properly. Officer Cook, you were one of the many heroes and heroines chosen for a special mission, to go and serve as a very dedicated servant of Our Creator. What is it like to stand into the wind? Pretty much like talking to anyone. What is it like to humbly and with a confidence in your voice and reflection be able to stand in the face of evil, saving your comrades from impending death and those civilians who trusted and respected you that you gave your life on their behalf? We'll never know quite what was in the mind of that troubled young man. We do know however, your courageousness, your resolve and resourcefulness never wavered, never lacked in any detail that the profession of police work demands from any of its brave men and women. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Investigation. A very interesting and sometimes a most profoundly perplexing word. All people, police, lawyers, doctors, etc. look to this word to give them sound, sage and revealing advice. You always looked to others, Officer Cook, for advice, for wisdom and knowledge, though you possessed a seemingly unending reservoir of intelligence and maturity beyond all your twenty-five years. You delivered professional style and grace. You handled your assignments always with the most highest concentration of urgency and decency. The desire, dedication, devotion and determination was never at all lacking. So it is with the fondest of memories that we so salute your sacrifice on behalf of all Dade County citizens in which you exhibited the level of bravery, courage and valor that is expected from all public servants who wear the Metro-Dade Police Department uniform with humility, humbleness and pride. Anytime you went out on the streets to patrol people could be guaranteed they would be receiving fair and just treatment. No craziness, only business in a loyal and truthful manner. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. All your investigations were centered on dignity for all, keeping intact the basic integrity and honor together as one resource.

Evaluation. A very important word in any endeavor we choose to pursue. All facets of life and of the chosen careers er aspire to achieve require a fair dose of self-evaluation. Police work which has its risks and is perceived as a dangerous profession falls under this scope. One must be careful, trusting at times when bravely, courageously and valiantly pursuing the peace and tranquility of the community where they patrol its venues. Officer Cook, for all you were worth as a treasured family member, a resourceful police officer, a loyal brother to Nancy, a beloved husband to Karen, you certainly help maintain the very dignity, honor and integrity of all Dade County residents. The decorum placed upon your shoulders over forty years ago has indeed stood the tests of time. Loyalty and sanctity followed you wherever you traveled and your trips were ones build within the foundations and cornerstones of only changing the good fortunes of all mankind forever. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. You were the legitimate and consummate professional whose resolve assisted those people realize their desires, dreams, aspirations and goals. You were a very goal oriented individual. Though, you had much more left to fulfill in this society and you continue to be missed terribly by everyone. You were the pride and joy of your beloved parents. Mr. and Mrs. Cook, I will always keep you all in my thoughts, hearts and prayers.

An angel can be describes as a messenger. Therefore all police officers could be viewed as messengers. They are not cherubic creatures, only creatures sent to us and their communities to serve and to protect the public interest. They perform many missions borne out of love for the profession, of which yours, Officer Cook, bubbled over from your golden heart. You brave and most courageous and heroic effort on May 16, 1979, not only enhanced forever the landscape in all of Dade County, it accelerated all dialogues of peace and grace, relieving the tensions and turmoil that threatened to tear apart the citizens. You made good on your affirmation to serve and protect and now God has you up in His heavenly shelter watching over you as you patrol those sacred golden streets. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Indeed, human beings have that chance, that opportunity to fulfill their dreams and aspirations because of your donning of a uniform and badge with so much honor, pride and humility. You were really more than just a messenger, you were a truly nice gentleman and an even greater hero. We just have to take a closer look at your life and police career.

The higher one's awareness goes the more things increase in importance. It becomes harder and harder to imagine their presence as merely chance. Until from the highest rungs, everything is seen. Everything is understood. Everything is in its place. Even this moment of heightened awareness is intended to be just now. There is no struggle or anxiety in any of this. Only looking with our eyes, hearing with our ears and speaking with our lips. There is only avoiding or awareness. With your outstanding and uplifting life and career, Officer Cook, there was never any fence straddling. Only from the depths of your heart and beloved soul came pure and straight forward honesty, dignity and integrity. It was all integrated within the four corners of all Dade County residents whom you served and protected their freedoms, liberties and unity with the humblest of bravery, valor, courage and boldness in commitment and a reverence in devoutness, loyalty and faithfulness. All of these and many more never to be forgotten. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Everything you accomplished was with the utmost resourcefulness and sincerity.

A rising to one's destiny takes on many responsibilities as do the moral obligations one has to back up the words of honesty, dignity and integrity. Words are meaningless and empty unless backed up with the very core of decency, decorum and many more words just to name a few. We live in a free society where we have freedoms, unity and what we call peace. But, sometimes the quietness can be shattered and disturbed by an unending stream of tension, turmoil and kayos. You were there for six years serving the good residents of Dade County, Officer Cook, you were loved, respected, cherished, revered and admired, we can now witness why someone of you class was deemed an excellent police officer. Sadly, a great man, any even humbler gentleman, literally was taken from among us way too soon. Your bravery, grace, courage and valor have always stayed with you as have your heroically humane actions of May 16 1979. Always remembered and highly thought of. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Your destiny of becoming a Metro-Dade Police Officer was a forgone conclusion as to the level of your professional performance. Your work ethic was second to none, your leadership, intelligence and maturity was the fighting spirit that all men and women who don a uniform and wear a badge should carry with them on duty. Very reliable and dependable were the characteristics that highlighted your watch. These words won't be forgotten.

And so words, actions, feelings, lives and history have come from something and are destined to go to something. Coming forth from a shared seed of the past. Setting out for a common fulfillment in the future. Each movement has a definite purpose. God plans, we look to aim high and achieve our goals and aspirations. Every action we fulfill and accomplish has real meaning. God's plans, our destinies are something we share with others. You shared so much with others, Officer Cook and you had a lot more to impart to this world in maturity, wit and in wisdom. Your heroic actions can be imparted on all officers, it's your honesty, dignity and integrity that has to be earned as does the respect from other colleagues. Your bravery, courage and valor only begin to tell the story of your humble life and successful police career. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. It was your actions, Officer Cook, that had the most profoundest effects and your actions did speak louder than words. Dade County is hopefully listening to the golden words you spoke more than forty years ago. They are living proof that the world does have honest men and women serving and protecting the peace, unity and liberty of all citizens.

We say God's plan will come to be. Freedom, in the spirit of the way we utilize the word, is only an excuse to insist on moral culpability which is only an excuse to pretend that the social good we accomplish is from fear of punishment-instead of saying that we do everything we do because we want to. Like saying we have no alternatives. Yet we are free to be aware of the significance of each moment and those thoughts and actions that we collaborate to achieve. To comprehend our destiny or to runaway from our onuses. To fear heaven is to search for the holy intention that might be realized by our every action or discerned everywhere around us. Because of those many courageous and decent police officers serving and protecting our best interests do we get to live in peace and a gentle serenity. Officer Cook, the professional career you chose to achieve came about through the genesis of hard work, astute study and if you will a completely and carefully worded plan of what you needed to do to get this far in life. We are free to run and hide, but God is everywhere He knows our innermost secrets and tries to assist us in every way, shape and form to help us reach our goals and to maximize our achievements. We can not ever forget nor forgo those events which transpired that led to your untimely passing from our midst. You were an inspiration, through your cerebral spirit, your congeniality, your dedication and know how to transfer what you gained through experience to other men and women within your ranks. Always a step ahead in the scales of maturity and delivering unwavering and resourceful justice to all. Commitments are more than just words, they are the very symbols of how we raised by our loving parents and used to convey honorable effort in order for one to get the most out of their beings. You did this very skillfully, Officer Cook, your work file bears this out. You were dignified and had a high caliber of integrity and sincerity whenever out on the streets patrolling. When a life is lost no matter that person's age or whatever they performed, it is a loss for society. When a police officer knows danger lurks, they are aware and yet try to act as one who wears a badge should. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Life is inescapably filled with meaning. That is because everything is prearranged. We have certain freedoms, liberties, unities and peace brought about through the hands and feet of our devoted police officers. We can be who we are or pretend to be someone else. I would safely state that it is better just to be modest, humble, honest and down to earth. This is meaning and each of us possesses a certain meaning as to how we carry on with our lives and careers that we choose to strive for. The labor, the toil, the sweat and the rigorous training and hands on learning are all the right tools to get the job done properly the first time. Being part of a constellation of parts that is itself part of an even greater scheme. The plans we set in motion are central parts of the truth, a convenience we perpetuate as we ponder the consequences of our basic actions. Nothing is completely separated. God Our Creator is completely involved in all facets of our living, breathing and surviving. Paradoxes, schemes, ambiguities, whatever these words cannot find the uniform of our brave and courageous men and women of the law enforcement field. They never hung around your stationhouse, department or your personal attire, Officer Cook, that was in large part because of your integrity and dignity, perseverance and diligence all directed by Our God who you were very devoted to as you were to all Dade County residents. For six all too brief years you worked feverishly and frantically to restore sanctity and decorum, decency and goodwill to all mankind and for this you'll never be forgotten. You will always be respected and cherished for your heroic actions on May 16, 1979, everyday before that and for the life of humility which you channeled into your everyday effort as a decent and honorable man and public servant. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Now in God's grand scheme of creating this universe, we have seen and read about those unsung heroes and heroines like yourself who risked their lives in an unwavering and unselfish manner to further shape and enhance the entire futures of their communities where they went out on patrol to battle the calamities of evil. A job well done! A hero taken before his time with so much more to offer in pride and honor. Your uniform and badge tell just a humble part of your story, Officer Cook. I'm proud to have read about you and to have met some of your devoted and loving family members. All people have meaning. Some just move up the rungs a little faster than others. It's not a race, we are in this altogether.

You do not have to go anywhere to raise yourself. Just be true to yourself and not be like anybody else. The gates where you travel to uplift yourself are already opened and awaiting your arrival. You are who you are. Your there. Gates are all over. There is no person who does not have their hour and not a thing that does not have its place. You uplifted the lives of all people, Officer Cook, enriching and enhancing those colleagues so humbly honored to work alongside you. You were the quintessential go to police officer in times of crisis. Back in your day in the 1970's, Dade County and its various venues were experiencing tension and turmoil, you were there for them in grace, valor, bravery and dignity, with the courage to serve and protect all residents allowing the opportunities to live in a healthy and stable environment which in turn offered them this chance at freedom, unity and peace. They have not nor will not ever forget your heroic actions on May 16, 1979 and on May 19, 1979, when they gathered at St. Mary's Cathedral in Miami, FL for your Inspector's Funeral, just a few miles from where you laid your young life down for their safety and security. Your whole life and professional career was founded upon the principles of honesty, decency and comported yourself with the utmost proper decorum. No one ever had worries or concerns as to how you would achieve and maintain your humility as one of God's publicly devout and loyal servants. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Your respect and humane accomplishments are now among yourself and God's humble guardian angels. All giving of themselves in the name of equality and justice for all. Courage, considerate and caring. All with the same professional persona. Their badges worn with honor served as their identification.
