Reflections for Police Officer William Coleman Cook
Morning, afternoons and evenings, we depend upon the bravery and decency of our police heroes. Dade County remained a stable community because of your integrity and intelligence, Officer Cook. A man on a mission of resolve and relief, you brokered the bonds of warmth and support among all people. it didn't matter who you were, if you were out on patrol serving and protecting the public interest, Officer Cook, you could be counted on to steer goodwill and belief that all would be fine. Your humbleness and humility spoke volumes. Now that you reside in God's sacred palace of eternal shelter, you can help lift up the spirits of all who are downtrodden. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Legacies are created upon the ideas and morals by which our heroes live and produce the proper professional results. Desire and devotion were delivered hand in hand to all mankind when you served, Officer Cook. A commitment is a person's bond, your word carried the message that was and is to be spread far and wide. A devout and faithful gentleman with a gentle soul, your spirit flies high at all times, day and night.

These days we seem to have a wealth of concerns over this very formidable adversary and that is this unprovoked wanton violence that is perpetrated against police officers and for that matter against ant law enforcement personnel. If you stay true to your word, keep on the paths of integrity, dignity and honesty, things will generally speaking resolve themselves. Officer Cook, you were a law abiding citizen, a concerned public servant whose due diligence made all the difference. It created enhancements in Dade County that have stood the tests of time. This has been the hope, faith and welfare for all to function and to live peace fully and with an uncompromising unity. To think about a life of good deeds, of boldness, courage and commitment, it makes us sad to think why your life ended at such a young age with more left to accomplish. You will be revered, remembered and respected for doing an outstanding job handling the rigors and responsibilities of a demanding profession. One you chose of freewill and gave only a solid effort each watch. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. A shining star burns brightly as does your harming soul. Your pride was sewn on your uniform and badge, Officer Cook, its everlasting integrity all remains part of your heroic legacy.

A legacy of a gentleman who gave back more than we could know. Dade County and its residents, Officer Cook, were under your steady leadership and integrity. Your dignity, discretion and honorable life and police career were well grounded, it is why we breathe and live. Life has new meaning everyday. Your life was centered upon the ideals of class, decency and respect for all mankind. An unwavering and unselfish action on May 16, 1979, to protect, serve and save your comrades and the many throngs of civilians involved in that domestic kayos. When two people disagree, it 's sad, when human life and the humility with which that life evolves is taken away, that is tragic. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero, your legacy of hope, faith and inspiration has motivated others to carry on with the tasks at hand that are our reminder of who Officer Cook is and was about in focusing on the realities of why we live, why we dream, why we aspire to succeed.

A project of profound proficiency and professionalism through and through. It made life serene and safe for all of Dade County and its residents. The epitome of energy, efficiency and effort went into your daily routines, Officer Cook. The roots of hard work, sweat, toil, honesty, dignity and integrity took shape from your wonderfully warm and inspiring upbringing, a home full of love and good cheer. I wish I could bottle some of that goodwill and good cheer, spread it out like a blanket. Peace and calmness rested upon your broad and very treasured shoulders, never one to shy away from responsibility, may you rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. The contentment you find in God's sacred shelters are those who like you were humble, heroic and willing to do whatever needed to be done to reign in wickedness in our society. A man of action. More so a gentleman of humility to all humanity. The right fit for a uniform and badge donned with clarity, class and distinction. Heroes rest diligently in their righteousness and candor as they care for all those concerned with happiness and unity.

They worked alongside of you, Officer Cook and experienced a gentleman and a hero through and true. Your parents and sister would be proud of you. You had class, decency and character to back your honesty, integrity and dignity. Dade County and its citizens have seen their enhancements grow larger all because of your unwavering sacrifice. Simplicity and sincerity. Certain situations call for these two words. And yet, we demand that all police officers be honest, have both dignity and integrity while risking their lives bravely to keep us peaceful and safe. You were, Officer Cook, the quintessential professional who always went over and beyond the calls of duty. A cherished man with a big caring heart, your family, comrades and friends pay homage to your memory each day. Your legacy exactly as your life and career, the embodiment of hope, goodwill and character. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Police work takes every ounce of both moral and physical strength, the fabrics meshed together to produce the desired results. Dade County and its residents witnessed this achievement for six years, it's a shame some officers do go awry and don't perform according to department rules and regulations.

Consideration and concern requires the utmost compassion and at the very same time you need an honest and dignified public servant to be able to properly carry out his or her roles professionally speaking. Officer Cook, you personified what we expect from a police officer. Ability to think and react. Able to handle the rigors of stress. Intelligent and articulate, a good communicator, one whose humility does not cause them to fall over themselves. No wonder other officers clamored to work alongside of you. You were a common sense and decent gentleman whose character, commitment and conviction matched your valor and courage. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Legacies of all heroes start somewhere, your home was open always to those who visited and partook of your wisdom and keen vision, its clarity as wonderful as your soul. Somewhere we feel its rays of love and esteem beaming down on us.

I just don't understand, Officer Cook, why? A Kansas City police captain was killed a few hours ago. Bloodshed and its ugly violence must cease one day. We know families lose their honorable and brave loved ones to this wanton evil. It must stop. Lives of all Americans and foreigners matter. We send professional servants into dangerous areas to serve and to protect us, it;s just not right nor fair. Dignity and integrity have been a part of our constitution for over two-hundred years now. We must have faith in God and trust in Him as you did, Officer Cook. You were a master of intuition and ingenuity. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. If you met Mr. and Mrs. Cook, two of the nicest people you could have known. I received a nice warm and sentimental letter from Mrs. Cook, though I never met her. She lives today in San Diego, California at age one-hundred. God bless you Mrs. Cook.

Yesterday, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Officer Cook, three more officers were taken from their families senselessly. We don't understand why? I still don't comprehend why you were taken. You were honest and dignified, intelligent and carried yourself with integrity. Certainly, Dade County can never forget a humble hero of humanity whose sole purpose was to protect and to save lives. Leaving a legacy of distinction and devotion behind. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. You'll remain respected and revered forever. I guess I could say thank God for modern technology, namely computers. I'm not as computer literate as you may think, Officer Cook, for it was my lovely wife, Holly, who introduced me to this age and from time to time looks at my reflections I leave for you. She calls them blogs. To me they are level headed and honest opinions most based on facts that sustained your life and career, Officer Cook. One young man's mission of dignity and integrity was your calling card and you answered all your assignments with alacrity, clarity and poignant perseverance. It took a lot, hard work, training and planning, in the end you were able to shape and make things happen in Dade County. Peace and liberty came about through your vigilance and valor. It renewed the hopes and aspirations of all. Keep observing us, Officer Cook, as you rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Your legacy will magnify that which we cannot see too clearly. Trust, faith and hope were some of the many foundations of your well lived life and a police career destined for more accomplishments. God directs this world. You have to pick up the pieces and continue on as you would want us to do, Officer Cook.

We live and cherish our lives because of the many heroes and heroines of the past. And, Officer Cook, you were this exemplary man and humane public servant. Obviously, each person deals with situations in their own way, calming and positive, cheerful and engaging were some of your many mannerisms you utilized when resolving disputes among one another. Dade County and its folks look up to the heavens by the light of the sun and the darkness of the moon at night. they see your brilliant soul aglow, giving inspiration and hope to them as you did during your six years of outstanding service to them. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Today in Nice, France terror struck again. When will this carnage, this massacre of human life end? You and the many other officers brave and sure tried their hand at wiping out this travesty. History and enhancement proves this fact. Your legacy carries this eternal approval. God has His best and finest angels of bravery and courage patrolling His sacred golden streets where nothing can ever harm you. Shine on. May your soul, Officer Cook, deliver nothing but radiance and relief to the many who are seeking it. I know, Officer Cook, if you were with us today and with your loving family, you would be appalled by this very violence that took you from our midst many years ago. You delivered peace and prosperity and gave new meaning to what go old fashioned honesty, integrity and dignity was and is all about. Diabolical and devious is what evil is about and how it lurks and can prey on others and sway them from a proper path. Each officer approaches this differently when in reality their mannerisms and and ethics carry great weight into how they can begin to solve and resolve any issues that crop up from this monster. Dade County citizens felt the blankets of trust and peace that you spread over them. Forever can they be assured of those enhancements brought about through your heroism and valor. A uniform, badge worn professionally, a message loud and straight forward. Those who carry on today do so with heavy hearts, knowing full well they too have awesome burdens to shoulder. One gentleman's mission of leadership, calm and appreciation, backed by humility and respect towards all mankind. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Your talents, Officer Cook, were of a loving and treasured reverence to those who battled this force of evil with you on a daily basis. You are missed very much. Though, humanity is grateful for all your efforts.

Hi Mrs. Cook. As I leave this reflection for your humble and most heroic son, Officer William C. Cook, my wife and I hope and will continue to pray for your good health and peace that allows you to enjoy your life out in San Diego. I'm sorry I never had the chance to meet you , but I still have that very special letter you wrote to me when I was living in Hallandale Beach, Florida. Your son was the ever present resourceful officer of dignity, honesty and integrity and for what has transpired here in the United States, especially last week in Dallas, Texas. All honest officers are to be commended for doing a job, in which a thank you, a polite courtesy is not always around the corner so to speak. Officer Cook, justly and most judiciously kept his affirmation in keeping Dade County and its residents safe and protected. Never any doubt. never wavering. Undying commitment to excellence and the pride that was worn on his uniform and badge each day to work. You can laugh. You can cry. When it came to serious business, the loyalty and heart, devotion and determination were always front and center. Now, thirty-seven years later, my neighbor, friend and hero, your life, dreams, achievements during your professional career have been so honored and saluted. Your grace, gallantry and courage have been remembered as much as your sacrifice that has kept enhancements on the front burner, as well as your legacy, the cornerstones of ethical conduct displayed at all times and the common sense and keen vision which is always a part of any officer's repertoire. Rest in peace. Maybe one day we can travel out to San Diego to meet, greet and share a cup of tea together and catch up on the times we both spent in North Miami Beach, Florida. Our families have, rather share some common bonds, as you may or may not know my dad, Owen C. Davis, may he too rest in peace along with your son, was a former New York City Police Officer for thirty-eight years. he served and preserved from the 1920's until 1966. Take care. God bless you and your wonderful family, Mrs. Cook.
