If the peace and unity is to result by resolve and reverence, at least let it happen in an honorable and dignified way. People pitch their tents so to speak looking to make success wherever they live. It does not come easy. Sometimes it travels with a hefty price. Police work is not simple. It is not routine. It certainly can humble the most humane and caring individual. Your life, Officer Cook, was indicative of trial and hard work. Persistent and persevering. This was kept up for twenty-five years, about a quarter of your days spent canvasing Dade County streets looking to secure peace and safety for all. No one was happier. Your colleagues, friends and family, as they understood your dreams and aspirations to achieve something special. The valiant go out of their way to serve and give back to their communities. Here in Dade County, Officer Cook, you are forever our hero and friend. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Honesty, dignity and integrity were the characters properly adorning your badge and uniform. God has taken you and your humble legacy to a special spot in eternity reserved for angelic heroes. Acuity requires a certain skill. Honesty and integrity come from the upbringings our parents give us. The opportunities to be exposed to nature and the outdoor world causes us to step back and reflect. Thankfully the internet give us the citizens to do just that. When someone puts their whole life, career and ideals on the line to serve and protect the public interest, if something heaven forbid happens to them it is tragic. Your life, Officer Cook, was reflective of a man whose dignity, morals and character humbly came before him. Dade County and its residents were assured of a day's effort when you patrolled. Nothing can tarnish nor take away you excellent service and preservation. Comrades, your family and many close friends have the memories, wonderful, yet, emotional of a happy man whose pride in wearing his uniform was his greatest joy. A delightful and decent man called back by God to serve a mission as supreme as there is. You served Dade County with distinction and reverence. Honesty and integrity were worn by you, Officer Cook, everyday, every watch. The people were given their peace and liberty all because of your dignity and character, all when spoken and orchestrated in a loving and heroic manner. It leaves your life and career, Officer Cook, as the living example of what it takes to humbly make and to become a professional public servant. We call journalists who report the news and are not showy as meat and potatoes. Police officers who take their professions this way are the ones who get the idea. You knew, Officer Cook, where your life was headed. I'm sure if you stayed out in California with your family you would have made an excellent public servant there as well. Dade County needed your style of service and preservation more. From a drummer at Norland High School in Miami to a full fledged police officer with the Metro-Dade Police Department. An honorable and decent human being carrying out a central job with a theme of action, vigilance all in the good name of peace and freedom. No one will forget your character, legacy or commitment brokered by convictions of valor and courage straight from your heart. Resting securely in God's everlasting eternal home, you can be sure, Officer Cook, that you did everything deemed fitting and proper in the fight over evil. The vile man that took your life and career from should have thought about his actions and their consequences before carrying out his wicked scheme. When a man's integrity, dignity and honor are uprooted from his comrades and family, what a pity, a crying shame. There was much more left for you to fulfill, Officer Cook. Twenty-five years of a well lived life of humility. The humbleness to wear a police uniform and to pull Dade County and its citizens from out of the doldrums. Peace and its spirit of unity are crying out today wondering where you and your beloved soul are Officer Cook? Revered and faithful. Class and resolve took you to many areas. The venues of violence were well tended to when a gallant and courageous young man took his tenacity to a higher level. Professions are to act accordingly and maintain reliability and resourcefulness when processing information at the scenes of their tasks. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. The hero of may 16, 1979, was yourself, Officer Cook. Officers DiGenova, Edgerton, Lincoln and Detective Blocker have never forgotten your mastery and ability to size up a problem and to resolve it using wisdom, knowledge and leadership capabilities not always seen from other colleagues.

One who has an ache or pain takes an aspirin, gets some rest and generally speaking feels better. If that could cure all this turmoil and evil we would not need devoted and faithful professional who are protecting and rescuing us from danger. But, that was what you did for six years, Officer Cook, in a large community that Dade County offers. A good serving of honesty, humbleness and wisdom help greatly in this battle. We the people ascribe to living safe and sound lives and can only do this with excellently trained and brave women and men such as yourself, Officer Cook. They possess the class and stamina to carry out their assignments, prudently, proficiently and most proudly. No beating around the bush. No hiding or running away. The moment something happens they must be present and prepared to deal with the moment in saving their colleagues and the lives of the residents they are sworn to preserve. Your legacy, Officer Cook, was made of conviction, consideration and the knowledge that your best efforts would be taken to treat an enemy such as violence with prompt measures firmly and fairly carried out. Robots are utilized in some police work and yet these valiant and class individuals are the ones who go face to face with an adversary looking to suck the wind out of our lungs. There is a leader who rules over the entire universe, if we heed His words, the blessings we would receive would be quite plentiful. One sure thing quite bountiful was your courtesies, Officer Cook, your class and the high caliber of your character. It all rested in your commitment and devotion overseeing Dade County and its residents who wanted good things, like peace and liberty and were afforded a gentleman whose morals were above reproach. No boasting. No bragging. Just simple matter of fact service and preservation. It kept wickedness at bay. You were a most admired and respected public servant, Officer Cook, always available, always getting your messages across. If only on that awful day of May 16, 1979, when you gave your life on behalf of Dade County. A handsome and heroic man of nobility, you'll never be forgotten. When a problem arose, you came calling my neighbor, friend and hero. Bravery and valor running down violence with a vigilance and vitality. Those salutes are stronger now than ever. Deservedly so. Dedication, devotion and determination to complete a mission of hope in evicting torment from our midst. Rest in peace.
