Reflections for Police Officer William Coleman Cook

Big and strong, brave and honorable. Size is not how you take account of a person's mind and mettle. I know in police work you must meet certain physical requirements and of course pass background checks and mental aptitude tests to qualify. One quantum leap for mankind. One humble young man fulfilling a life's dream of becoming a public servant. By virtue of your vision and sense of passion, Officer Cook, did you become a top flight police officer. Dade County and its people could not be happier with your choice. Seeing that you made the grade and by being versatile and vigilant paid dividends for those wanting your services. For having the heroic and humble dignity and integrity terror was handled very professionally and promptly dealt with. Ambitions are those journeys to where destiny comes calling. Your missions of goodwill, Officer Cook, shall remain part of your courage and gallantry all missed very much today and everyday. Your family can take comfort in knowing you did your very best each moment of your life and during a career with more left to achieve. Your beloved family carrie son with humanity's affairs as your soul rests in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Circumventing through danger is akin to walking on a high wire trapeze. One does not always get a second chance. Domestic disputes and any other calls public servants receive demand the highest attention level. All you did that fateful day, Officer Cook, was to try and to diffuse an already bad situation. Along with your peers even though you were not required to attend to that scene. You and Reserve Officer Scott Lincoln went and with all your honor and character tried to humanely save lives. Dade County salutes your bravery, boldness and humility which was tucked under your integrity and dignity. Evil, violence all need a special and humble stroke of vision and clarity to dispel anymore further harm to those seeking serenity and safe travels. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Forever a hero whose legacy reflects humanity's feelings of trust and gentle care and compassion.
