Our thoughts and prayers are with the immediate family of Deputy Sheriff Kaleb Mitchell and the extended law enforcement family of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina.

Rest in Peace brother and watch over us. We will protect and serve from here on in your honor.

I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, but tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.

Reading about the death of Deputy Sheriff Kaleb Mitchell is a tragic reminder of the risks officers face, even when simply traveling during their shift. Deputy Mitchell was killed in a vehicle crash while serving his community, and incidents like this show that the dangers of law enforcement are not limited to confrontations or calls for service.

Deputy Mitchell had served with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office for about a year and a half and previously served with the King Police Department. Even in that relatively short time, he chose a career dedicated to protecting others and serving his community. It takes a special kind of commitment to step into this profession and accept the responsibility that comes with the badge.

After spending 29 years in law enforcement, I know that the job carries risks in many different ways. Whether responding to calls, conducting traffic stops, or simply driving to assist someone, officers face dangers that most people never think about. Deputy Mitchell was serving his community when his life was tragically cut short.

The loss is felt not only within the law enforcement community but also by the family and loved ones he leaves behind. His dedication to public service and his willingness to serve others should never be forgotten.

God Speed, Deputy Mitchell.
