Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Andrew Nuñez
PROTECTORS PRAYER
LORD, YOU HAVE ALREADY WON THE BATTLES I WILL FACE TODAY.
I REST IN YOUR SOVEREIGNTY KNOWING YOU HAVE APPOINTED ME
FOR THIS DUTY.
THE POWER THAT CREATED EVERYTHING LIVES IN ME THROUGH YOUR SPIRIT, LET ME FEAR NOTHING.
GIVE ME THE COURAGE OF DAVID, THE STRENGHT OF SAMSON, WISDOM SOLOMON AND THEGRACE OF YOUR SON, JESUS.
WHILE I AM AWAY PROTECT MY FAMILY, LET ME RETURN UNHARMED. PREPARE THEIR HEARTS SHOULD TODAY BE THE DAY I MEET YOU FACE TO FACE.
LET ME SERVE THE PEOPLE OF THIS BLESSED COUNTRY AND COMMUNITY WITH A SERVANT'S HEART; BEING QUICK TO LISTEN, SLOW TO SPEAK, AND SLOW TO BECOME ANGRY.
LORD YOU HAVE GIVEN ME GREAT RESPONSIBILITY. HELP ME TO PROTECT THE VULNERABLE AND INNOCENT.
WHEN THE MOMENT CALLS, ALLOW ME TO SHOW COMPASSION AND HUMILITY TO THOSE WHO CROSS MY PATH.
WHEN FACED WITH EVIL, LET MY ACTIONS BE DEFINITIVE, IMPERTIAL, AND ABOVE REPROACH.
PROTECT MY BROTHER TO MY LEFT AND MY SISTER TO MY RIGHT AS WE RESPOND FEARLESSLY, WITHOUT HESITATION TO THE UNKNOWN
FOR HIS GLORY

Thank goodness that off duty SBCSD Narcotics Deputy stopped him in time...otherwise he would've fired on the CHP Motor Officer and who knows what else would've happened...
You did what you did...and SoCal is grateful. It takes true valor to run into the hail of bullets.
Rest assured, knowing that SBCSD and other SoCal agencies are carrying your legacy, and that I one day would do the same, and I know you'll be proud of me not just as a fellow LEO but also a fellow SoCal native.

Deputy Nunez,
I'm saddened by your loss. My own wife was born just weeks after her father - a Ranger with the U.S. Forestry Service - died fighting an arson fire. Rest in peace. I will pray for your wife, children, parents and siblings, as well as your friends, loved ones and colleagues.

My heart goes out to the Nunez family. All who have chosen, all who have served, all who have saved and all who have fallen. This life is for a very chosen few, who are made up the stuff that bleeds red and blue, that is driven deep inside without doubt or controversy because it calls to deep in this one's soul. As a
firefighter/first responder female of 20+ years and have too many times had to black stripe my badge and put my helmet on my boots, I want you to know dear family, doing what is our calling, because we know we need to be the one to do this job because it is our make up, we don't always think of the danger or the consequences that will be at the end. But because you love us and know that this is what we were meant to do, you live with the love you have for us and that we/them will not be just a memory but a mark in time that can not be forgotten and with love, we responders cherish all who stay by our sides, loving us, in our chosen profession..
