Dear Chief of Police David L. Lash:

It was with deep sadness that I learned of the sudden passing of Detective Mark Baker while in the line of duty. I first met Mark in 2005 when our sons Cody and Matt played ice hockey for the York Devils hockey club. Mark was the quiet parent, always a calming presence in the often chaotic world of Youth athletics. I always felt as though I could approach Mark to chat about a variety of topics outside of hockey.

Please know the entire NYCRPD is in my families hearts during this difficult time.

The sacrifice that he made while protecting and serving your community is a testament to the selfless and courageous nature of law enforcement officers like him. We can never truly understand the risks and challenges faced by those in law enforcement, and we are forever indebted to them for their unwavering commitment to keeping us safe.

To you, Chief Lash, and the entire Northern York County Regional Police Department, my family and I want to express our gratitude for the vital work you do each day, often in the face of danger and adversity. The sacrifice of your fallen colleague serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that come with your line of duty. Despite the risks, you continue to serve with integrity and unwavering commitment, and for that, we are immensely thankful.

Having served 46+ years as a Law Enforcement Professional, my family stands with you during this time of mourning. Please do not hesitate to reach out if there is anything we can do to support your fallen hero’s family, you, and your department during this difficult period.

Keeping his family in my thoughts and prayers. Mark is an incredible human being and a phenomenal cop. I was blessed to have been in the same Philadelphia Police academy class as well as serving the same district after completing our academy days. I’m so sad that this happened to one of the good ones.

Heavenly Father, You are always faithful and quick to show mercy. Our brothers-in-blue, Detective Sergeant Cody Becker, Detective Mark Baker, and Detective Isaiah Emenheiser, of the Northern York County Regional PA Police Department, were suddenly and violently taken from us, Shot & Killed, in the line-of-duty. Come swiftly to their aid, have mercy on them, and comfort their families, friends, and comrades by the power and protection of the cross. I ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. By His mighty and holy Name, and by His Authority and His Sacrificial Blood, I pray. Amen.

Please find Support, Comfort, and Hope with the following Scripture Verses taken from the Law Enforcement Officer's Christian Standard Bible:

"Then I heard the voice of the Lord asking: Who should I send? Who will go for us? I said: Here I am. Send me." (Isaiah 6:8)

[Jesus taught:] "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God." (Matthew 5:9);

[Jesus taught:] "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." (Matthew 5:4), and;

[Jesus taught:] "No one has greater love than this: to lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13).
