Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Devin Mason
A Prayer for a Suffering Family, Friends, and Comrades of a Fallen American Peace Officer:
Lord God of unfailing love, to those families in our beloved nation, the United States of America, who are suffering in the wake of the loss of an American Peace Officer family member, help us to provide encouragement, support, and hope. Allow us to be their rock and fortress in a time of immense pain and uncertainty. Help us to keep them safe and nourished in their time of grief, suffering beside them as we move toward healing and reconciliation. Lord God, in Your compassionate mercy, please hear my prayer. In the mighty and holy Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and by His Authority, I pray. Amen.
[Jesus Taught:] "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." (Matthew 5:4 CSB)

Devin Mason is my nephew. I got the call Tuesday morning at 5:04 am. The call that I prayed I would never get. We are completely devastated. It’s like something you’d hear on the news or read in the paper. Young Deputy just getting started with his career and with a two month old son…killed in action. Nobody ever wants to think it could be your family member but this time the nightmare is ours. I love my nephew like he is my son. He is my Hero. Please continue to pray for our family. Especially his fiancée, Madi, and baby boy, Brooks James Mason. We will be laying him to rest Tuesday near his grandparents. To all first responders let me say what I told Devin every time I talked to him recently. Please for the love of God…don’t take any unnecessary risk and always watch your back. God bless you all.
