Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Detective Michael Torrisi

Mike was my Godfather and Cousin. He was my hero and role model. Although I was much younger, my sights were set on the FDNY; his on NYPD but kept the door open after taking both tests. I remember joking with him on who would notified by the FDNY first - he became a great police officer; I became an Army Officer. I admired his service and that of his brother Louis and sister in law Catherine, all Detectives, all in for the citizens of NYC. Each ultimately gave their lives in support of the days and years that followed 9/11/01. If he’s watching, I’m still working on a promise I made to him during that last call I had with him before he died. His family was so lucky to have him as their dad and husband. They are each wonderful as was their dad. Blessing to each of them. His legacy endures in them.
