I was in the police academy with Bronc and we sat next to each other because we were seated alphabetically and his last name started with "M" and mine with "L." When we graduated the academy, Bronc ended up going to SE Dallas where he worked his whole career and I ended up going to NW. On top of working on directly opposite ends of the city, we were also on different shifts so we only saw each other a handful of times over the next 20 years.
The last time I saw Bronc, he was the controlling supervisor on a call in SE in March or April of 2020 when COVID first started to ramp up. We talked as if no time had passed, and he was quick to remind me that he loved being a Sergeant in "Gods Country" (Southeast Dallas.) Even as far back as when we were in the academy in 1999, he told me that his goal on the department was to become a Sergeant so that he could take care of his troops. I know from personally talking to people who worked for him, that he was well respected as a supervisor by his troops. Bronc, you achieved every departmental goal that you set out to do. Rest easy brother.

I’m not a police officer, but I would still like to share my respects. I met officer McCoy almost 3 years ago working the state fair 2019. I would see him ride his cart through the fair almost everyday, he would grab my attention because of how down to earth and friendly he was passing everyone through the crowed. Towards the last week of the fair it finally slowed down enough to where I was able to ask to get a pic with him. When I asked him for a picture he had a big smile on his and accepted we took several pics together in that cart, so I when I found this last night my heart truly broke!!! RIP Officer McCoy for your sacrifices and dedication to serving you community! You are missed and will be missed by many!

The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.
There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.

Sergeant McCoy, for many years, you dedicated your life to protecting others that they may be safe. It took a small virus to take your life. Our Lord, who sees all and knows all, will reward you abundantly for your courage, dedication and selfless service. My heart breaks for your parents who have lost their son. It is against the law of nature that parents outlive their children. May He immerse you and your loved ones in His Divine Mercy. Rest in peace, good and faithful servant.

Rest in Peace brother and watch over us. We will protect and serve from here on in your honor.
I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, But tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.
