Reflections for Chief of Police Steven Eric DiSario
I stand in this crowed alone and think,
What a humbling and sad thing to see.
What act of hate had brought us to this,
A sea of red and blue lights and sobs and sniffs
I watched them carry a flagged draped box,
Past the heroes family as they sat and watched.
Knowing he had given his all for all those years,
And now his families eyes are filled with tears.
Traveling this highway, Honoring another who has gone home, thinking about their family and their loved ones. There are things that we just can't fix. There are things we know that just aren't shown. Like the tears in the cars following a brother home.
They placed him in a carriage to go,
The line that followed him was long and slow,
There were lines of people along that longest road,
Salutes from kids and families that showed.
We watched them place him over his final resting place,
As his family and his friends and the angels sang,
All of us were there in spirit or uniform,
To honor our brother who has gone before.
Traveling this highway, Honoring another who has gone home, thinking about their family and their loved ones. There are things that we just can't fix. There are things we know that just aren't shown. Like the tears in the cars following a brother home.
As we mourn for our brother please think about this,
Today we cry but we know that we just can't quit.
We have such an important job to do,
So tomorrow we will be back out on the roads for you.
Traveling this highway, We just honored another who has gone home, thinking about their family and their loved ones. There are things that we just can't fix. There are things we know that just aren't shown. Like the tears in the cars following a brother home.
Wrote by Patrolman Jason Gadrim for the family of Fallen Officer Police Chief Steven Eric DiSario.
Thank you to Lt. Anthony Byram for representing our department at his funeral.
This was wrote to express the feeling of being in the line that follows a fallen brother that both Byram and I have been in a few times. It is always an honor to be there for the families but as you can all imagine it is not the easiest thing to do.
