Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Daryl Wayne Smallwood
This is my first time hearing about this in 2025, 9 years after this tragedy occurred. This was a vile, savage, ruthless and uncalled for attack on these two honorable men. They showed no signs of aggression or hostility towards their killer. He simply didn’t want to spend a little bit of time in the slammer, yet, committed such an atrocious act that would ultimately leave him caged up behind bars till his last breath with absolutely no chance of freedom ever again.
These 2 officers, Daryl and Patrick, were only doing their job, which was keeping the public safe from harm. They had families, they had regular lives outside of their line of duty. However, this disgusting waste of human flesh took the happiness, the laughter, the memories that could’ve and should’ve been made, the love, the lives, literally every single thing, not only from Daryl and Patrick, but from all of their family, friends and colleagues alike. Thank y’all for your incredible service and taking care of those in your county. Y’all both will never be forgotten.
I’m so incredibly sorry to both of the officers, all responding officers, everyone who worked at the peach county sheriffs office, their families, their friends and their loved ones. My heart goes out to you all.
Rest in Peace Daryl & Patrick.

Officer Smallwood, i'm sorry for what happened almost 9 years ago, as the evil man who took you and your partner's lives had absolutely no right to do what he did, as it was wrong in every way. He was too blinded by his own anger and ruthlessness that he didn't have time to properly think about what he was doing along with his decision-making. But, as a resident of georgia myself, i'd like to thank you for your service as an officer, along with being a marine, as you've earned my respect for your dedication and integrity to protect and serve not just your city, but your country as well, as that takes alot of courage to do so. However, the man who killed you and your partner that day will not see the light of day again, as he's been sentenced for a long time in prison, as karma will eventually catch up to him and make him pay for the consequences of his actions. But as of now, may you rest in peace knowing your service as an officer and marine is appreciated, and you were a man of strength and courage to do what you did to serve your community. Rest Well Mr. Smallwood

I just wanted to make things right as it is a matter of respect to get all the informations right:
Both the sergeant and the deputy were not shot while they were walking down the driveway, they were shot after they had a little chat with the suspect and told him he was under arrest.
After being told that he was under arrest the suspect replied "no I am not" and began to walk backwards pulling out a handgun.
The deputy made the fatal mistake of trying to prevent that with his bare hands instead of pulling the weapon on his own.
After both officers were shot the suspect retrieved an AR 15 style rifle from his home and took cover behind the patrol car, next to the officers he just shot.
As he got shot by other officers he surrendered right away.
I came here to maybe get more insight on this story but to see that it is stated totally false on this page makes me wondering how that happened...
Either way, here is the right story that you can also watch on the dashcam video on YouTube.
Stay safe everybody!

John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.
