The juvenile who used the radio to alert dispatchers showed that there is hope for him. Thank God for that.

Kids will be kids and these two, though they should never have escaped in the first place were brought back thanks to the diligent efforts of Patrolman O'Dell who proved beyond a shadow of a doubt, to be a true lawman through and through, willing to retire as Chief from one department, only to take a job as a Patrolman with another. He is a hero to me for that alone.

It is truly sad that Patrolman O'Dell lost his life, but if those who truly know and love him keep him forever in their hearts and minds, he will always be with them.

God Bless and may you eternally Rest in Peace, Brother.

Patrolman Roger O'Dell left us all too soon. He made an arrest of two juveniles who escaped from a juvenile facility in Alabama. He will be missed by all of the citizens of Town Creek, Alabama and its police department. He was a dedicated police officer who did his job very well. I send my condolences to his family and the entire Town Creek, AL Police Department as they mourn the loss of a proud police officer who did his job with dignity.
