Reflections for Police Officer Scott Thomas Patrick
Thank you for your service and sacrifice. As a combat veteran / ARMY veteran of OIF, I'm well aware of the great fear that any patrol could be one's last. I believe police are amazing patriots and heroes and you are at the highest level of both. Your brother is my uncle and I think of you often. It is the end of '25 and your memory is alive and well in the hearts of many. I'm looking forward to one day meeting you in the next world. In the meantime... rest easy brother. Pro Patria, For Country. Blessings and prayers go out to your wife and daughters in Jesus name, Amen.

Officer Patrick, i'm here on the 11th anniversary of your passing. To start off, i'd like to comment on the dashcam video of your shooting. Although it didn't show your death, it's still a painful reminder that not all traffic stops are quick and easy, as it comes with immense danger, especially now in society. That man had no reason to kill you, other than the fact he was a coward and couldn't take responsibility for his actions, considering he knew what he was doing at the time. It doesn't add up or make sense on why people feel the need to harm officers who are doing their job, and even now it never will make sense. The man could've just accepted his time in jail and got it over with, but instead he chose to prove how much of a disgusting and vile human being he really is, as he even attempted to harm more police when he was caught. Thankfully, he was thrown under the prison and sentenced to life, meaning that he will never be seen roaming the streets again, and that he will never harm those who are in his path. Although there is no death pentalty in the state of Minnesota, i believe he should've been put on the death sentence, and although i personally don't wish death upon him, all i have to say is that when he passes, it's between him and whatever God he believes in. Not only did he take away a police officer, but he took away a husband, a father, a friend, and a protector of his city. Although i can go on and rant about the man who took your life, i'd like to look onto the positive side of things. For one, you spent almost 20 years with Mendota PD. meaning you made alot of friends along the way and made yourself known to the locals, and that they could go to their destination(s) safetly, knowing they got officers like you who define what it means to protect and serve their communities. And although it's been 11 years since you were unfortunately taken away, it won't change the fact that you will still be remembered by many, and even people like me who have never met or known you. To make sure you weren't forgotten, i saw a photo of a memorial highway named after you, which proves that your impact and sacrifice was deep, and that means that those who aren't police or don't know you, will get to learn about you and the things you did in life and in your career, which goes to show that the more others learn about your story and learn who you were, it goes to show that you will never be forgotten. I'm sure that as of now, your daughters have learned that their father truly was a hero, and that they will carry your legacy until they pass it on to their own children, and that they're honored to say that their father was a hero and protector, and they know that you're serving as their guardian angel that ensures that no harm will reach them, and that they take inspiration knowing that although you aren't there for them, you would never want them to give up or stop fighting. And even now your story continues to live on, as countless people learn about your story and take inspiration on the kind of officer and person you were. I'd like to think that during your 19 years as an officer, you were able to truly make a difference in your community and change the way things worked, as though Minnesota itself isn't all to dangerous with low crime rates, i think that you were able to contribute on bringing the crime rates down and making sure the state and city of Mendota Heights is safer each progressing day, and despite you not physically being here, it won't change the fact that your brothers in blue and Mendota Heights PD will continue to strive and carry on the impact you did to others as they know it's what you would've wanted. As of now, may you rest in peace knowing that your service will forever be cherished, and that as long as your name is said and you're remebered, you aren't truly dead nor forgotten as people will continue to learn about your story and who you were, as said earlier. As for the person that took your life however, just know that his time will come and he will face the actions of his consequences, as it's clear that the indidual who took your life was nothing short of a scumbag who though he could get away with what he did, only for it to backfire on him, as it should've. I'm sure as of now your daughters have grown up to carry on your legacy and keep you tucked in their hearts, as you're the inspiration for them to keep going and keep your name alive. Rest Well Mr. Patrick

Patrick Family - We just completed the annual Wheels of Justice Ride - now known as Texas Heroes Ride - and it was a wonderful day to remember fallen heroes. Last year I rode this ride in memory of Scott and although I rode for another officer this year, he certainly was on my mind again.
The support community for First Responders is strong down here in the greater Houston area so please know many prayers are being offered up for all officers like Scott.
God Bless,

John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.

Prayers from Houston, TX. I just rode the Texas Wheels of Justice Bike ride with Scott's name on my wrist band. My Son-in-Law is a PO and his father and I rode this ride together.
The Wheels of Justice ride generates funds for the Police Unity Tour
that raises awareness of officers who have died in the line of duty. http://policeunitytour.com/
Please know you have one more out here praying for Scott's soul and your family's well being and comfort.
God Bless,
Ryan

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Scott was killed.
To the Patrick family, fellow deputies, and all who call Scott beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Officer Patrick gave to his community and the citizens of Minnesota, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on July 30, 2014.
