Police Officer Brian Jones,
When you made your decision to enter law enforcement some five years ago you became blessed:
For the Lord said, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God." Matthew 5:9 ESV
When you responded to the call in which a suspect was firing his gun from a moving vehicle at those around him, killing a 17-year old boy in the process, along Chesapeake Boulevard on Friday, May 30, 2014, shortly before 11:00 PM, you answered God's call to serve:
And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said, "Here am I! Send me." Isaiah 6:8 ESV
As a result, you, along with another police officer, located the suspect vehicle parked in front of a residence on Wellington Road. Shortly thereafter, you both were ambushed as the suspect fired upon you both with a high powered rifle from the suspect’s residence; sacrificing your life so that others might live and be protected on Friday, May 30, 2014:
And the Lord said, "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13 ESV
I, along with your family, friends and comrades, will mourn your sacrifice and loss in the line of duty:
And the Lord said, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." Matthew 5:4 ESV
Now go! Rise up! And do battle against Satan and his demons as an angel for the Lord!
In God's merciful love,
