HEY NORM. I RAN INTO SOME OF YOUR FELLOW DALLAS OFFICERS, ON YET ANOTHER HONOR FUNCTION.THEY WERE ON THE RIFLE DETAIL AT YOUR AND WE SPOKE OF YOU AND YOUR INFLUENCE ON THE GUYS IN DALLAS. JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW, EVEN IN THE OUT LYING AREAS OF OKLAHOMA, PEOPLE ARE STILL TALKIN ABOUT NORM. YOUR STILL REMEMBERED IN A HONORABLE WAY AND THAT HAS TO BRING SOME MEASURE OF COMFORT TO YOUR FAMILY. OH, AND I THINK THOSE RIFLE DETAIL GUYS ARE GONNA JOIN US IN HONORING FALLEN OFFICERS IN A ROAD MARCH TO BENEFIT KIDS NEXT YEAR HERE IN OKLAHOMA, AND WOULDN'T THAT BE SOMETHING, TO KNOW THE OFFICERS ARE HELPING SPECIAL KIDS, WHILE HONORING A FRIEND. SO WHILE YOUR WATCHING OVER THEM, KNOW THEY ARE STILL REMEMBERING THEIR FRIEND IN SPECIAL WAYS. BEING ON THE HONOR GUARD AND ATTENDING WAY TOO MANY FUNERALS, ITS SAD, BUT I CAN NOW GET A GOOD FEEL FOR WHAT TYPE OF PERSON THE OFFICER WAS IN LIFE, AND I GOTTA SAY, FROM WHAT I HEARD IN TESTIMONY AT YOUR SERVICE, YOU WERE ONE HELLVA GUY. REST IN PEACE BROTHER, YOUR BROTHERS OUT HERE AND IN DALLAS WILL TAKE THE WATCH FROM HERE AS YOU WATCH OVER US ALL. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE AND REST IN PEACE...NO GREATER LOVE...GINA, I STILL PRAY FOR YOUR STRENGHT TO WALK THROUGH EACH DAY WITH YOUR HEAD HELD HIGH, YOU HAD AND STILL HAVE SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF IN NORM.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there... I do not sleep.
I am the thousand winds that blow...
I am the diamond glints on snow...
I am the sunlight on ripened grain...
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you waken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of gentle birds in circling flight...
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry—
I am not there... I did not die...

It is with sorrow that I just today have learned of the death of the son of a former colleague. I left the Royal Military Police in 1970 when Norman Jnr would have been only about 4 yrs old. I then joined the Royal Ulster Constabulary and in the course of my service lost many friends ands colleagues due to terrorists. Norman has been robbed of his life in the line of duty. Please pass on my condolences to his wife and mother who may remember me from the days when I served with Norman Snr in 28th Commonwealth Infantry Brigade Provost Unit (RMP) in Malaya

Rest in Peace, Corporal Smith. I felt like I knew you after seeing you on several episodes of " The First 48 ". Thank you for your service to the citizens of Dallas, and the Republic of Texas. Gangs are a problem that only the most tenacious Officers want to work, " Thank You " for your tenacity. My prayers go out to your family, friends and fellow officers. We will honor your memory each and every day as we go forth to prevail over evil. Rest now my friend in the arms of the Lord.

My native State of Texas will certainly never be the same nor the streets of my home town Dallas. Rest in peace brother, although justice in this life is not always just, those who are responsible owe a debt that will be collected on judgement day. God bless you sir.
