Reflections for Sergeant Richard Scott Findley
Heavenly Father, I come before You today grieved in heart over the divisions in our country; the United States of America. I grieve for every life lost to violence, regardless of color or creed. And I especially grieve this day over the senseless deaths of America’s Peace Officers whose sworn duty is to protect us from harm. Please grant comfort and hope to their families. I know from the Holy Scriptures in Romans 13 that Peace Officers have a sacred task, to enforce laws that protect the innocent and punish the guilty. I pray that You will protect them as they serve us. Give them wisdom, discernment, and a deep desire to serve You. Please surround every Peace Officer in our nation, the United States of America, with battalions of warring angels to protect them from harm. I stand in the powerful and mighty name of the Lord Jesus Christ against every work of Satan intended to inflict injury and death on our Protectors. May Satan’s power be thwarted, in Your mighty and holy name, and his plans exposed by Your Light. In the mighty and holy name of the Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior, our Redeemer, and the Mediator between us, Heavenly Father, in prayer, and by His authority, I pray! Amen.
Please find Encouragement, Comfort, Support, and Hope from God's Word:
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”
[Matthew 5:9 ESV];
"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." [Psalm 23:4 ESV];
"Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends."
[John 15:13 ESV];
"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." [Matthew 5:4 ESV];
"And he [Jesus] said to him, "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise." [Luke 23:43 ESV], and;
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." [John 3:16 ESV].

"There's no greater love then a man who will lay down their life for another!"
The day we lost a hero, to a zero!
Make the time match the crime! Death penalty to cop killers! No excuses!

Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.
I pray for solace for all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. Thanks to your family and friends for sharing their devotion to you through their reflections. This was such a sad, sad story. You are all in my heart's embrace today.

Just came across this page. I'm very happy to see Richie remembered in this way.
I grew up with Richie. He was the fastest kid in our group of neighborhood kids. I mean fast! Many were the days that we played and got in trouble in Calverton. Riding bikes, going to the "Pits" (something never approved by the parents ;-) and just general good times.
I moved away when I was 10. While I got back to that neighborhood at times...it wasn't often enough. Was always happy to run into Richie or Johnny. We still ran around when we could, but it was less and less.
Last time I saw Richie was at Darrins' wedding. Boy had he changed. He was somewhat hyper as a kid (I say that in a good way) but he had really calmed down by that point. We had a good time catching up on things and said we'd stay in touch. Sorry to drop the ball Rich.
Still think about you a lot. Hope everyone is well.
Your friend, Dave T
*just had a memory flashback that I had forgotten and worth telling. The front of our house had this cast iron railings that were conveniently shaped for climbing. They went from the ground to the roof. I was caught several times after climbing them up to the roof. But I just remembered Richie getting caught by my Dad on our roof. I can still see him speeding back to his house after Dad chased him down. Think I must've planted the idea in his head somehow. Good times.*

I never heard the news, or even knew of you until today. I am from PG County, born and raised. Though it has been 3 years since your passing I still feel grief and sorrow. As a Active Duty SGT in the United States Army, I know what it is like to lose a brother in arms. It doesn't matter if your uniform is blue, or green, we are all brothers and it saddends me to hear of all the brothers and sisters that have died through the years. When I hang this Green Suit up, I want to put the Blue one on, and I hope I can be half the man and cop you were. Rest in Piece brother

Well Rich as we approach 3 years it is still hard to believe your gone. I think about this loss everyday, and we have tried so hard to make sure you are never forgotten. I feel at times I have failed with keeping up on your family but they are doing good and hanging in there. I think Kelly knows I am here if she ever needs anything. RIP my brother and friend as we go through this together.

Rich, its the holidays again. I wish you were here, I need advice on somethings, more so clarity. You were always so good with that. The girls are getting big, looking more and more like you. Start back to school this spring, wish you and Steve were here so I can get help with homework. Its not the same in Dist 6 and at Beltsville with out you and Steve. It sucks, miss your ping pong matches and your off the wall jokes. Plus you would be having fun playing Snider aka Socks in COD black ops with Opie singing christmas carols in the backround. I will come up and visit before the holidays. Miss you friend.
