We are going to miss you here at home dad. I hope I made you smile with the Flyers chant at your funeral today. I wanted to lighten the mood a little, that was your way too. I promise to take care of Mom and Amber. Stevie is on his own. Love you dad, see you in a few.

Steve, even though I only met you a few times . I knew the few times I dispatched to you when you were in the 4th you would always handle things for us no matter where or what it was ... You treated everyone equally and when you offered to buy me and my partner dinner the one night for helping you really meant alot to me ... All your brothers and sisters in blue and your extended family in police radio will be there to help your family through this. You will be missed so much ... Watch down on us...

Growing up in Frankford in the 60s-70s, I saw the daily challenges Philly's Finest endured. We used to joke that 15th and the 7th District officers were hard-asses. I would not realize until years later, just how difficult this job is - both on the officer and his family. I feel that every time we hear of an officer's death or even lose an officer close to us, a part of us dies a little bit too. This is not a calling taken lightly by any of us, and a career that some would never do. I remember early in my LE career, seeing a poster of a police officer standing at the end of a very dark and unlit alley, about to walk down it. The caption read something like this, "Most of us wouldn't go down that alley for a million bucks - he's gonna do it for a lot less". Sgt Liczbinski's actions showed courage and a soul of steel, and probably saved lives. Sgt Liczbinski made the decision to face that threat, knowing it may cost him his life. I mourn Sgt Liczbinski's passing and pray for his grieving family. R.I.P. Brother Officer

Steve, you were a great cop in the 4th district, an even better sergeant in the 24th district and everyone in South Philly and Port Richmond knew it. You knew every criminal in South Philly as a cop and when they saw you, they quickly got out of dodge. I'll never forget the shooting job we responded to at 10th and Washington when you almost shot the 80 year old guy who wouldn't drop the gun after he shot someone. All of us actually witnessed the old guy piss his pants because he was so scared of you! We all use to joke with you and call you "that 70's cop" because of your mustache but we will retire that nickname just like your badge. You served your city well and we all want your family to know that you were a hero. You will be missed for a long time pal but we all know you will be watching over your family and your fellow officers. Godspeed......

I wish to offer my thoughts, prayers and gratitude to Sergeant Liczbinski and his family. Working at a law firm, I see what happens after the police do their job, which is way harder and more brave. The respect and heartache I feel at this time will never be forgotten, and neither will he.Thank you and all the police for protecting us in the city and here in the suburbs. My heart goes out to Sgt. Liczbinski and his family. He made the ultimate sacrifice and in my eyes he's truly a hero. His legacy will live on in the city of Philadelphia and surrounding areas. Having two officers in my family I know first hand that this is a brother & sister hood. Men and women in uniform feel a loss when one of their own is tragically killed in the line of duty. Each and everyday an officer goes out on the street they are risking their life. I respect and honor Sgt. Liczbinski for risking his life each and every day for us citizins. I salute you Sgt. may you rest in peace!

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Sgt. Liczbinski's family & friends. My prayers are with all of you as we all try to understand God's plan in such a tragic time as this. Know that our family members have touched so many lives in a positive way for the good. We can only try to duplicate that good in the way that we live our lives from here forward. I did not know you personally, but I still feel the loss of a hero. I am very sorry for your family. We will not fail you, we will not stop performing the duties that you also have fulfilled in the past and most of all we will not forget you. My very deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski and to the whole Philadelphia Police Department. I do not know what it is like to lose a father, husband, friend or even a neighbor that is a cop but my uncle is a detective and thank the lord that he is alive. I, myself, always wanted to become a Philadelphia Police Officer ever since I was a little kid. I intend on donating $150 to the family of Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski. Sgt. Liczbinski's family, the whole Philadelphia Police Force and friends of Sgt. Liczbinski are in and always will be in my prayers. Although I do not know Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski, but I can say he is an inspiration to me and I am proud of saying that.
