Officer Kozminski, I thank you for your dedication and years of service, you are indeed a hero. My prayers are with you and your family during this tragic time. One day your daughter will truly understand what a hero her daddy was(is).

Rest in peace now my brother, we'll handle the rest of the watch from here. MAY GOD BLESS YOU!

Sgt. Kenneth Bowman
Washington Township PD (Toledo, Ohio)

Officer Kozminski,

My family and I wish to express our heartfelt condolences to another hero. Like too many other heroes, you left us entirely too soon. We thank you for your bravery, your honesty and your integrity. More importantly we thank you for the sacrifices you made in selflessly serving our community. Only those of us who have served fully understand the sacrifices we make to protect our families, friends, and fellow citizens. By and large these sacrifices pale in comparison to your ultimate sacrifice. God bless you and your family. You are in our prayers. Rest is peace hero, your watch is over...we will take the watch from here.

Final Inspection

The Policeman stood and faced his God,
which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?

The Policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No Lord I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
that wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
when the bills got just to steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've cried unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
among the people here.
They never wanted me around
except to calm their fears.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had to much,
but if you don't I'll understand.

There was silence all around the Throne
where the saints had often trod.
As the Policeman waited quietly,
for the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, Policeman,
you've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
you've done your time in Hell."

Such a tragedy, and such a waste of a young life. Yet another fine officer falls foul of a low life bum.

My heart just sank when I read about this brave young Officer Kozminski being killed in the line of duty. This is happening too many times across our Country. I live in NYS where there has been 14 Law Enforcement Officers killed within the past 18 months while performing their duties. NYS still has not passed the Death Penalty for the criminals that take the lives of our Law Enforcement Officers. I just wanted the family and loved ones of Officer Kozminski to know there is someone in New York State that shares your grief even though I was never fortunate enough to meet and know Officer Kozminski. May the Good Lord watch over the Kozminski family and give them the strength to carry on Bobby's memory.
