I am not involved with law enforcement in any way but feel greatly affected by this tragedy and have thought a lot about Trooper Rich's family. I am nobody from no where but I have decided that the next time I see an ISP trooper in an approachable situation that I am going to take time to stop and thank him for what he does. I think we all should.

What a great guy. Dave always had a great sense of humor. He was always willing to help. He was a super cop, efficient, dedicated and thorough. I never ever heard him say a bad word about anyone (even the crooks). He served and protected all of us and he did it well.

Dave,
As you know I had the honor and privilage to work at your Post for awhile with you and your brother, Bob. I also met your father and mother once. I always enjoyed making you and your brother laugh. And now, when you're brother needs me the most to cheer his day, I am at a loss to say or do. In the 51 years I've walked this planet, I have met no finer family than yours. You were truly blessed, as we were for knowing you. You and my father try to stay out of trouble up there till we meet again.

I AM A WARRIOR
by Jon F. Hooper
I fight not for glory or fame,
For they are momentary.
I fight for those who can't.
I fight for Justice.
I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden.
And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets,
For I serve to protect the innocent.
It matters not where or when,
For evil knows no boundaries.
Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny,
I will not flee.
Justice is my weapon.
Faith is my shield.
Hope is my armor.
Cry not at my passing,
For it was my Honor to fight for you.
Shed not tears of sorrow,
But tears of joy,
For now,
I stand with God.
