Reflections for Trooper Joseph Anthony Longobardo

Today we are given the honor to once again give reverence to Trooper Joseph Anthony Longobardo. Thank you for your service to our Great Nation and to the Great State of New York.

Retired First Sergeant Thomas Webb
New York State Police - Troop "D"

Trooper Longobardo, i'm sorry for what happened to you that day, as your murder was cruel and vile in every aspect imaginable. However, your other trooper who was also shot survived, meaning you can rest in peace knowing that he made it out alive from the vicious ambush you both endured. But however, your killer didn't get away as he was caught and sentenced to life, meaning that he won't commit anymore senseless acts like that ever again. But from what i think, i personally believe he should've been put in the ground, because he deserves whatever happens to him, as karma will take its time to reach him. Karma is something that will reach those who do wrong and harm others, especially those who harm police and result in their lives being taken, as the punishment for taking an officer's life should be death and or death penalty. It never made sense to me how someone is willing to kill a police officer who's doing their job and making their city and community better, but from what i learned about it, is that the people who did it are people who can't accept responsibility for their actions, and it's a large possibility that they're possessed with rage and fueled with wrath, and they choose to take it out on police. In my eyes, the man who took you away wasn't just a coward, but he was something from the abyss that wasn't human. But in other words, i think personally you were one of the good police officers in law enforcement, as you spent nearly 10 years as a state trooper for the New York State Police, which goes to show how strong and dedicated you were to protect and serve your people, as you did a wonderful job in doing so. Although i never met you and you passed a couple months before i was born, i personally believe you were a great man to meet and talk to, along with your son who unfortunately never got to meet you. But to my knowledge, he now knows who you were, as i saw a photo of your son with 2 military men infront of your memorial along with the rest of the officers who were in Troop A. I think that it's good to know that your son is aware of your legacy and who you were as a man, along with the fact you also served your country ontop of that in the marines. Speaking of that, you weren't just a state trooper, but a soldier too, and if that doesn't describe how brave and courageous you were, i don't know what will. Being a state trooper is one thing, but going out of your way to serve and defend your country takes alot of bravery and strength to do, and you had that in you to serve and protect your country and state at the same time, which i salute you for that. All in all, the people of New York will remember your service and acknowledge who you were, along with everyone who had a chance to meet you before your untimely death, as your service is deeply cherished. I'm not sure if there's any more words that can credit you for your service, but although i'm not a resident of New York, i personally thank you for serving your state and country, as someone who supports the police and the military, and wishes nothing but the best for those who are currently protecting and serving their people and their country as of now. I understand that not every officer returns home from their shift, which is dissappointing but unfortunately true, but i'd like to believe you knew the dangers and evil of this world, and you looked in the face of evil and fought it anyway, and did your best to stay alive and make it home for as long as you could. As of now, i'm sure you're resting well in heaven, and you're reunited with your fellow brothers in blue along with anybody you knew that's in heaven with you, as i think you deserved to enter heaven with who you were and what you did with your selfless acts of kindness and dedication to others, and being a state trooper helped you fulfill that. But as of now and today, may you rest in peace knowing that your service is and always will be remembered, and as long as people learn about you and say your name, you're not actually dead, but living in the hearts and minds of others, along with you serving as a guardian angel for your son and wife, and to your friends you made in life, as you're protecting them from all bad and evil. Rest well knowing that your killer won't ever see the light of day again, as karma will one day reach him and make him pay for his actions, as judgement day is the only reasonable punishment. Your service overall will always be remembered, and that the people of New York appreciated your service while you were alive, along with the United States who recognizes you as one of their brave marines. Rest Well Mr. Longobardo
