It is so disheartening to hear of this. This is my worst nightmare as a wife of an officer. I hope you find the strength to make it through this difficult time. All of the DPD family will be by your side in your time of need.
Thank you Officer Brian Jackson for paying the ultimate sacrifice!

Officer Jackson, There are few and far in between who would risk their own safety and life by running into a dark alley after a criminal. You did just that to serve and protect the people of that community. They should be on their knees giving Thanks. They should give their utmost support and respect to your family and fellow officers. I will never understand that we as a country will give millions to NBA/NFL/Actors/Musicians and so on, while "OUR" police and military receive a shameful pay! YOU are the "TRUE" HERO Officer Jackson. YOU along with the rest of your brothers and sister's in Blue. I appreciate and respect you all more than anyone else who walks this earth. God Bless your family.

TO: The family; loved ones; friends and department members: A POLICE OFFICER’S PRAYER:--- O, gentle Lord ! Keep the day/night watch with me. As I begin my tour of duty, I ask your protection from all mental, physical and spiritual harm. Sustain me with the knowledge that I am doing your work, endeavoring to keep peace among your people. Help me to be just as I enforce the law without prejudice or favor to anyone. May I be courageous but not reckless in carrying out my duties. Let me respond to all calls with haste realizing that so many are dependent upon me for life and safety. Support me with your consoling power when I am tempted to think no one really cares and that I am taken for granted. Sustain in me the conviction that so many thousands do care and are grateful for my presence. Grant that I may be loyal to my partner and my fellow officers, and that I may back them up effectively when called upon for assistance. Lord, I ask that I may return safely, after my tour of duty, to my loved ones and those who love me. I pray that I may be a good and honorable police officer; and after my tour of duty is over here on earth, may I enjoy the peace and happiness of heaven that you have promised to those who serve you well. AMEN. *** REST IN PEACE ***

Nothing can bring this officer back, nor can he ever be replaced, but those he leaves behind can be certain that he lived and died to uphold the oath he gave when he took the badge. It's clear that he believed in his oath to serve and protect his community, and his fellow officers. He served that oath, unto death. I pray that the memories you have of him in happy times will help to ease the pain you're feeling now.
Rest easy, Brother; you will never be forgotten.
