Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Jerry Ortiz

Deputy Ortiz, i'm sorry for what happened to you on that day 20 years ago, as your murder was coldblooded, without a doubt. There should've been no reason as to why you were killed, as your murderer was nothing but a spineless coward who didn't know better, and thought he was better than everyone else. But however, he didn't get away as he was eventually caught and sentenced to death, meaning that his time will come soon despite it being 20 years. But honestly, i think it should've been taken care of a long time ago, since 20 years can't bring back a man who was dedicated to his job and trying to make a positive impact on his community. But to be fair, he already dug his own grave as he's never getting released anytime soon, but i think we all know where he should've been a long time ago. But rest assured, karma will one day catch up to him and show him the consequences of his actions for taking away not just an officer, but a father, a husband, a son, and someone who was willing to make a difference for their community. It's a pain to know that your boys had to grow up and spend the rest of their lives without a father, and a woman without her husband by her side, and a mother without a son, all because some scumbag tried to impress others by taking away a good man and officer, and resulting in a family and community being torn apart. And although it's been 20 years, which seems to like a lifetime for some people who knew you, i'd like to say that although i never knew you nor met you, i think you were a good man to talk to and get to know since you were well-liked by many, and even now people still talk about you which shows the type of impact you had on others, as you spent 15 years as an officer, and it shows how much of an impact you had. Speaking of that, to spend almost 20 years as an officer, especially in the grand state of California, it takes alot to hold a position like yours as to face danger every single day, especially knowing how dangerous California is. But with brave men like you going out everyday and ensuring the public's safety whilst also making sure that the gangs in the area are off the street, i'm sure it was something you were used to and knew how dangerous it was, and you were strong enough to face evil in the eyes and fight against it. But on another note, i'd like to shift to the good parts of your career. I also read that you received a medal of honor the year before your death for shooting a carjacker that tried to take you and your partner's life, which an act like that says alot on how brave and fearless you were, along with the fact you not only saved yourself that day, but also your partner's too, whom i'm sure appreciates you saving his life, which also adds onto the fact you were well-known by many in your area. As for somebody who isn't an officer but rather someone who's always been a fan of law enforcement, i know that not all police officers make it home some days, which is a shame but unfortunately true. And i personally believe that those who are vile and evil enough to take away a police officer, are the same people who are corrupted by evil and are consumed by so much wrath that they gotta take it out on others, and they choose to target police. Although it's something that may never be understood and something that will linger in the air from time to time, i don't think their will ever be an answer as to why people choose to harm and kill police, but from my understanding, it's because the demons in them take over and target them without a second thought, and they deserve to get put down like the dogs that they are. In other words, i'm sure your boys have grown up to learn about your history and who their father was, as they learn and know that their father was a hero who put his life on the line for others and for their safety. I do believe that as long as your name is said and you're remembered for as long as time goes on, you aren't truly dead as you live on in the hearts and minds of others, even to those who learn your story and who you were as a man, which will add onto the memory of all who read and learn about you despite them not knowing you. I'd like to believe you're a guardian angel for your family, as your sons and wife along with your mom feel protected by you spiritually, the same way you protected those in your community, as you protect your family from any and all evil as you stand as an angel and on guard for them. But as of now, may you rest in peace knowing that your service will forever be cherished and remembered, and that the coward who killed you will one day have his name called up, like they do in the slaughterhouse, as his execution will one day reach him, and if not, he will rot until they collect him, and make it known that he's now off the face of the earth, as no amount of time is enough to fix the actions he did that day as it's unwarranted. Karma will one day reach him, as we all know, but no matter what happens, it will not bruise your impact you left on your community and that you're now one of God's angels and soldiers, as you're the guardian angel for your family. Rest Well Mr. Ortiz
