Reflections for Police Officer Mark Anthony Cross

You are missed everyday within our department. Please keep us safe as our angel up there.

Cross was our recruit for the Personnel Services Unit when he was hired. We grew to love Cross, his smile and his personality. I think of Cross often due to the pictures of him posted up around the department. I would like for his parents, wife and kids to know that I have not forgotten him and my prayers will continue to go up for his family.

Officer Cross's son stood by his fathers casket and picture of him giving a hand salute to his father and the American flag. After seeing this my heart felt the loss knowing that we not only just lost one of our own but another child has lost his father. Our fight for justice is not over so we must continue to defend those who can't defend themselves. Officer Cross will always be remembered in our hearts and his family will always be apart of ours. REST IN PEACE MARK YOU MAYBE CODE 8 FOR THE REMAINDER BUT IN OUR HEARTS AND MINDS YOU WILL BE CODE 7 WITH US AS WE CONTINUE THE FIGHT.

Mark Cross was my roommate and teammate in college WIU, Mark had the biggest smile that I had ever seen. One thing Mark always talked about was his family and how much he loved then. I know his family and his police family will miss him. Mark, man I just wish we could step out on that football field together one more time.

Mark,
This morning at Peachtree Presbyterian, we celebrated your life in one of the most wonderful services I have ever attended. All of your fellow Red Dog Unit officers were there too, along with other APD officers and friends. No one could have fathomed all the wonderful things that have come from such a tragic event. You parents and family were beaming with pride. It was a CELEBRATION of your life and all the wonderful things that continue in your name.
God bless.

It is amazing the impact that Good People have on others. I miss the opportunities to bond with a Good Man, such as yourself, as we have in the past. Your contributions to our society, in every way, are appreciated. I admire your courage and pray that God has given us more men like you to make this world a great place.
