To calls advise status, there was no sound,
As this brave officer lay on the ground!

He's a policeman up in heaven, making sure we're alright. "But Mommy, why'd he leave us, I miss him when he's gone" I know you miss him darling, but now we must be strong. "Who's gonna teach me baseball, and help me fly a kite? "and help me with my homework and buy me my first bike?" Your daddy loved you darling and he did'nt want to leave. But a bad man took your daddy, and left us all to grieve. Be proud of who your dad was, and how he earned his pay. Because it's people like your daddy, that keep us safe each day. Kevin, during our time together at the beach we made many trips together, to the court house for warrants, on the water for a dive, a journey to south Florida to help hurricane victims or just a short ride to get something to eat. That night in March I made the best and worst trip with you a brother could have made. Forever know you have changed my life in many positive ways. But this is the type of man you are. You will never be forgotten , and we will always be proud that you are our brother in blue.

At our last explorer post meeting, Tuesday, May 10, 2005, we viewed a power point remeber Sgt. Kevin Kight. We learned what the "blue" family really is all about, and i cannot wait to become a part of it... much love... and God Bless Sgt. Kight's Son, I am the daughter of an officer myself, and know the fear that daddy may never come home one day. Stay strong Little Buddy! Daddy's watching over you!

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

I was home to visit and enjoy Panama City Beach and my friends when the news of Kevin's death was given to me by my family. I worked with Kevin for a year, and in that short time I was able to see in him a love for our profession. Moreover, I noticed that he was genuinely proud of what he was doing, as he loved being in Panama City Beach, and he loved working for the Beach P.D.
I am glad that I was home when he was taken from us. I am proud of the response and the outpouring from the community and it's support of the Panama City Beach Police Department.
A special "Thank You" to the men and women of the Panama City Beach Police Department for welcoming me, even though I've not worked for the Department for five years.
You are all very special to me, and I will always consider you a part of my extended family!!
