Wow, Howie, I can't believe you're gone. Just like that you were taken from us. We love you and miss you so much. You did so many great things for Ceres. You were not only a wonderful Sergeant, but a Loving and caring father. You will always be remembered for your great work. Howie, you are a true hero. What you did that night will never be forgotten. Somebody killed a Policeman today
and a piece of America died

while a young widowed mother must work for her kids

I was saddened to hear of Sgt Stevenson's death so soon after we lost Bryan Hurst. My sorrow turned to embarrassment and anger when I heard the drug using criminal who committed this murder was a Marine. I was satisfied to hear that the Marine Corps refused to bury him with military honors. Bryan Hurst, who exemplified the Marine values of honor, courage, and commitment, was buried with both Police and Marine honors. The pipe band played the Marines' hymn as he was carried to his final resting place. Marines stood guard over him, served in the color guard, and prior Marines served as some of his pall bearers.

Sgt Howard Stevenson will be remembered as a hero.
