Reflections for Master Sergeant Stanley W. Talbot
As a police officer in Will County, I got to know Stan a little. If there was an weird occurrence, I knew he would be involved. He was a great police officer who could find the odd and unusual in criminal activity. He was more than willing to back myself and other officers up without question. He was what I one day hoped to be as an officer. I still miss him after all these years.

Heavenly Father, You are Compassionate and Merciful. None of America’s Peace Officers leave home without the fear of not returning at the end of their watch. It is a fear that is lived daily. Unfortunately, the worst does sometimes come to pass, and lives are left shattered. Lord God, bless and keep the hearts and souls of those who have lost loved ones in the line of duty. Wipe away the tears from their eyes. Soothe their pain and bind up their emotional wounds through the wounds of Your beloved Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. In His name, and by His authority, I pray. Amen.
Please find Encouragement, Comfort, Support, and Hope from God's Word:
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”
[Matthew 5:9 ESV];
"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." [Psalm 23:4 ESV];
"Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends."
[John 15:13 ESV];
"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." [Matthew 5:4 ESV];
"And he [Jesus] said to him, "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise." [Luke 23:43 ESV], and;
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." [John 3:16 ESV].

19 years.
So much has changed; the world didn't stop.
So much never will change; hearts still ache, tears still fall, emptiness remains.
Yet, despite the loss you- your memory- still bring smiles and laughter.
You live on.

Stan, worked with you and laughed with you, and was very saddened at your passing. You were the first officer ever, in my rookie first call for assistance, to back me up. And a few times after that, just in case I needed assistance, even after you had gone to plain clothes investigation. Miss you.

I just read about you today, and I wanted you to know you are not forgotten. You died trying to protect US from drunk drivers.
I am even more sad and angry that the Offender only only spent 4 years in prison.
Your life was worth a hell of a lot more than that.
Please watch over your brother Officers and your son, who I read is on the job.

Stanley,
Just a note to let you know you are thought of frequently and the good times live on. Dennis and I got together in May and along with the cigars and Miller Lite came the "Stanley" stories. You meant so much to so many people and that still continues.
