Reflections for Deputy Constable Micheal Ray Eakin, III

Dearest Micheal,

I am doing my very best to keep my promise to you to make a difference for all officers everywhere and for your memory!

Hopefully in the near future all of the agencies in our area will be sending representatives to learn how to deal with law enforcement trauma. Greater Houston COPS is making a difference for the memory of our lost loved ones!

I miss you every minute and love you so much!

Love,
Mom

Micheal, Well a little over three weeks ago on the 22nd day of March, Ryan & I made it official by saying the big "I do". We had the ceremony at a beautiful church in April Sound & had the reception at the April Sound Country Club on the lake. As crazy as I am my girls had lime colored dresses & the flowers & decor was pink & orange. I used all oldies music during the ceremony like "Aint No Mountain High Enough" which was the best. Just so you know up at the front near Ryan & the groomsmen there was a pedastal with a picture of you where Kris layed a white boutineer down so that everyone knew you were a best man in our wedding. Even though you weren't there Ryan & I both talked afterwards & decided you saw it all from a much better place & view. Also I made personalized CDs for the guests & on the cover I put mine & Ryan's name on it along with our wedding date, but at the bottom I put the phrase you always told me, "Live each day to the fullest for tommorrow is never promised." A few days after the wedding I took some flowers & placed them on your and Papa's grave & watched petals blow in the wind. You would be so proud of everyone & everything that has taken place in the past few years. We miss you dearly & will never forget you. We love you.

Houston lost another officer this week, Micheal. I am apalled at the number of families like ours who have lost a much loved officer! I visualize your precious smile every day, and my heart breaks again! I am so very proud of you. I am glad you called me "Mom"!
Much love,
Mom

I almost quit the academy when i found out about my friend Mike. He and his friend/"brother" Dannie were encouraging people in my life to get into this line of work. i remained in the academy after the incident to not let all the time he spent encouraging me go to waste. I just wish I had the heart and sole for this like he did.

Michael
First being Ray then to know you as Michael, you were always eager to learn, ready to run the fastest, be the best at whatever you attempted. You achieved so much from so little. You're friends at Pct. 1 will always miss your easy smile, creased jeans and that "Cowboy" hat you introduced to the Warrant Division. Working the rodeo at the dome is just not the same without you there. You'll always be in our memories and never far from our hearts.
Loving memories, Hazel, Jurisha & Clifton.

DEAR SON,
THE COURT OF CRIMINAL APPEALS HAS UPHELD THE DEATH PENALTY CONVICTION OF YOUR KILLER. AFTER ALL HIS APPEALS HAVE EXHAUSTED, HE WILL ONE DAY PAY FOR WHAT HE DID TO YOU. I LUV YOU AND MISS YOU. I KNOW ONE DAY WE WILL BE TOGETHER AGAIN, SO UNTIL THEN REMEMBER YOU ARE ALWAYS IN MY HEART AND ON MY MIND. I LUV YOU, YOUR MOTHER BARBARA JOHNSON

Micheal,
We miss you now as much as the first day you were gone from us. As you look down upon us, remember that we are doing things now to make you as proud of us as we are of you and the way you lived your life. You have been a shining example for us all!

I love and miss you. I promised you that I would not let your death be for nothing.

Hopefully I can make a difference for all officers and their families in our community. Lead and guide me from your place above. Watch over me to insure my strength and encourage my day to day efforts to make a difference in our world in your name!!!

Love,
Mom
