Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Shayne Daniel York

We in law enforcement put our lives at risk every day. We do this for the community we have sworn to protect and serve. It does little to assist us by prematurely releasing hardened murderers. You do the justice system a great service by adhering to your sworn oath.

Dear Mr Governor,

It would be a travesty of justice if this convict is paroled or sentence commuted

Your law enforcement constitutes are pleading with you to not let any more convicted criminals realized from custody before the time which is determined by the Superior Court is served

Lord knows you are ready in the process of making this state a haven for criminals and illegal immigrants

Governor Brown should not intervine, and allow the justice system to carry out the death sentence for the murderers of Shane York.

I pass by a small memorial stand across the street from Knott's Berry Farms every day. It is a sad reminder of the execution of Deputy Shane York. Governor Brown please do not parole or commute this inmates sentenced. He should serve his full

I hope that the governor of California will not let the second suspect out on parole or Commute the sentence. It does not matter that this other suspect did not pull the trigger he was part of this. Therefore he got life in prison without possibility of parole and he should do his time until he's dead. California has not excluded anyone in 12 years and currently has over 747 death row inmates. When is California going to do with the people voted for.

Shane;

My heart aches for your loss to this day. I sat arm and arm with your father at your funeral services. I was moved beyond words seeing the heartbreak in him, your brother Brandon, and the rest of the family. Your father and I are childhood friends and first cousins. He went into law enforcement, and I went into the Army. We both served our countries as a profession and did so with honor. You made him proud when you followed his footsteps and joined the men and women who serve so honorably in law enforcement.

To this day, I am still engaged in the US Department of Defense, 43 years and counting. I have said farewell to far too many Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, and Airmen over those 43 years. Viet Nam, Desert Storm, and the War on Terror have taken too great a toll on America and my heart. The show of respect for their loss is always touching and patriotic. However, never have I seen the camaraderie to match that which I saw the day of your funeral. Hundreds upon hundreds of law enforcement officers were personally in attendance and hundreds more lined the freeways and streets of Los Angeles as your Hearst proceeded towards the cemetery.

Your brothers in arms are truly brothers in deed. May God bless you and your fellow law enforcement brothers forever.

Deputy York,
We reflect on you and your tragic ending at the Sheriff's Academy almost anytime a fallen officer is talked about. Your story has touched me in a way that can't explain. I had the honor of polishing your plaque today and reminiscing with our instructors about you and your family. You always have a place in my heart.

May You Rest In Peace

Hello to the York Family,
The pain from the loss of Shayne hurts as much today as it did so long ago. Having known Shayne and his family for so many years, watching him grow as a child into the fine man he became brings back so many pleasant memories. Shayne, you will always be in my heart!

I was thinking of you today, and started to write something here and then read down through the other comments and came across my own name and message from 2007. My message was almost exactly the same words so many years later! My thoughts and prayers are still with you and your family and as I said in 2007, I will never forget you. I wish you had been able to live out your life, and I feel so sorry for the loss we all have without you here in this world. Our loss is Heaven's gain and I know you are an angel watching over us. Thank you for your bravery and sacrifice. As long as I live, your memory will be a part of me.
