Although I did not know Ofcr.Wrede personally. I heard
alot about him. unfortunately it was after his E.O.W.
His story was told to our Class# 121 at Rio Hondo
Police Academy in Whittier California.

My sincere sympathy goes out to his family. And please
know this that Ofcr. Wrede, although he payed the
ultimate sacrafice, is a hero in the eyes of us always.

Every day when you pin that badge on your shirt and go 10-8 you go to work to make things better for society. You attempt to provide the community a better place to live , and in doing so we take a risk , a risk that can be the ultimate sacrfice. Ofcr. Wrede's death was unfortunate , and I'm saddened to see his video as a training topic when I was in the Police academy , Rio Hondo Class 157.
Rest in peace Officer Wrede , and thank you for your sacrifice.

Police Officer Louis Lave
Los Angeles County Police

When officer Wrede made the supreme sacrifice, I had just celebrated my 12th Birthday, and was living in West Covina. I remember the funeral prosession passing by as I watched from a local golf course. I was so impressed with the way he was honored, I had a new found respect for police officers and what they have to deal with. I'm sure that day had much to do with the career choice I made later in life. Officer Wrede is remembered.
