Heavenly Father, I come before You today grieved in heart over the divisions in our country; the United States of America. I grieve for every life lost to violence, regardless of color or creed. And I especially grieve this day over the senseless deaths of America’s Peace Officers whose sworn duty is to protect us from harm. Please grant comfort and hope to their families. I know from the Holy Scriptures in Romans 13 that Peace Officers have a sacred task, to enforce laws that protect the innocent and punish the guilty. I pray that You will protect them as they serve us. Give them wisdom, discernment, and a deep desire to serve You. Please surround every Peace Officer in our nation, the United States of America, with battalions of warring angels to protect them from harm. I stand in the powerful and mighty name of the Lord Jesus Christ against every work of Satan intended to inflict injury and death on our Protectors. May Satan’s power be thwarted, in Your mighty and holy name, and his plans exposed by Your Light. In the mighty and holy name of the Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior, our Redeemer, and the Mediator between us, Heavenly Father, in prayer, and by His authority, I pray! Amen.

I met Ron in 1972 right after he took his Oath of Office to become an FBI Agent. I was working for the Dept of Justice, Attorney General’s Office, John Mitchell. The FBI shared space with the DOJ since their bldg was under construction across the street. Ron’s Badge # 9111. We shared a relationship till 1975 although it continued long distance. This June 26 marks 50 yrs since Ron & Jack tragically lost their lives. I’m launching a book about our relationship on July 30th which would have been Ron’s 78th birthday. It’s been 50 yrs & I still fight back the tears. We were at Justice when Hoover died & when the first 2 female Agents joined the FBI. “Badge 9111: A Testimonial to an FBI Hero” I miss Ron every day. Three days before his demise he asked me to meet his parents. He was making arrangements for us to fly to California but that was not meant to be. Ron was a pilot & he spoke 4 languages. He was the kindest person I’ve ever met. He’d give you the shirt off his back & he did just that when Jack laid unconscious that horrific day. Ron was shot several times & managed to drag himself back to Jack making a tourniquet from his shirt so Jack wouldn’t bleed out. They were both amazing heroes & I won’t let their memories be forgotten.

I'll try to make this as focused, nonpolitical and professional as possible. After many years of liberal left lawmakers and advocates trying unsuccessfully to get clemency for the evil person who so cowardly took yours and your partners lives, our outgoing President gave in and freed this evil, low life person. This person, whose name is not worthy mentioning in this post, will face his maker one day which will be a far higher jury and judgment than he would ever face here, and so will the evil man who released him. Take comfort in knowing that your law enforcement family will never, ever forget you nor will we forget this travesty of justice.

To Ron's family. I wish I had the words to offer my condolences. Ron was my mentor and hero and the reason I became a Federal Agent. Even though his life was cut short, he made a huge impact on me. Ron was our neighbor in Rapid City and he immediately became everyone's friend. He took my brother and I under his wing from day one and taught us a lot about life in our short time together. I miss him every day. Rest in peace Ron and Jack. You are true heroes.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 37th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

We, his cousins, knew Ronnie to be fun, loving and kind. He lit up the room with his presence. His loss of life left his parents and sister forever shattered. He took with him a little piece of all of us which will never again be filled. May he rest forever in peace.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Special Agent Williams. We honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever. We rarely know it when a hero walks among us. Today, because of the sacrifice Special Agent Williams has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.

To the family of Special Agent Williams, I want to say that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with him when he walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that he will always be with you -- wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Special Agent Williams is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.
