Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Officer John C. Walker

John-
Your death. like all police officer deaths, dealt a blow to the DPS and to its narcotics officers. While I was not in Narcotics at the time, when I transferred into that unit a couple of years later, it was not with the thought of your death on my mind.

I was most proud to have been asked along with Sergeant Jim McMorris to lead your procession on our DPS motors. The procession stretched for miles with numerous citizens standing by in honor of your sacrifice.

May you rest in peace.

DAD, I MISS YOU SO MUCH. I KNOW THAT YOU CAN SEE US AND THAT YOU KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON IN ALL OF OUR LIVES. JUST TO LET YU KNOW THAT SANDY AND I GO TO THE PAROLE HEARINGS EVERY 6 MONTHS FOR THE GUY THAT KILLED YOU AND TOOK YOU AWAY FROM US. IT'S BEEN 27 YEARS NOW HE CAN'T EVER GET OUT. SOMETIMES IT IS REALLY HARD AT THE HEARINGS AND YOU NEVER KNOW WHICH WAY IT WILL GO. BUT WE WILL CONTINUE AS LONG AS IT TAKES. I LOVE YOU

This hero died on the day I was born. Now, 26 years later, I am a narcotics/violent crime detective in one of most dangerous cities in New Jersey. I've walked away from several situations which, if I were to look at logically, should have turned out horribly wrong. Now I think I know why...I have a brother in arms watching over me.

Rest In Peace
