Deputy Sheriff Willie Christian was killed when his patrol car was struck head-on by a vehicle that had crossed into his lane of travel while he was returning to the station.
The crash occurred on Highway 190 five miles east of Iraan, Texas.
The driver of the other vehicle was charged with driving on the wrong side of the road and fined $200.
Deputy Christian had served with the agency for 27 years. He is survived by his wife, four children, five grandchildren, numerous extended family.
