Private First Class Jack White was stabbed to death while attempting to arrest a soldier for violating a curfew at a local Elks Club on Alameda Avenue in El Paso, Texas.
Private First Class (PFC) White and his partner entered the building at 11:00 pm to search for soldiers violating the 10:30 pm curfew. As both officers searched the building, PFC White's partner entered an upstairs room where he discovered two soldiers. Both soldiers attacked him, and he attempted to defend himself with his night-stick. When PFC White entered the room, he was stabbed several times by one of the curfew violators. Two Military Police Officers arrived moments after the stabbing and arrested both soldiers.
PFC White was rushed to City-County Hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds 20 minutes later.
It is unknown what legal action was taken against both soldiers.
PFC White served with the United States Army Military Police Corps for ten months and was attached to the 1852nd Military Police Service Unit at Fort Bliss. He was survived by his wife.
