Patrolman Charles Anderson was electrocuted as he attempted to light an arc lamp on South Oakes Street at the Orient Railway tracks.
He was on motorcycle patrol with the chief of police riding in his sidecar, when he noticed that the lamp was not lit. He was immediately electrocuted when he grabbed onto the wire in an attempt to light the lamp.
Patrolman Anderson had served with the San Angelo Police Department for 4 years. He was survived by his wife and son and is buried in Fairmount Cemetery in San Angelo.
