View all 73 ReflectionsI was lucky to service on board USS Boxer (LHD-4) with QM1 Duran. I was a snot nosed signalman in Navigation with him and he loved to pick on me. In a good way, like an uncle. He was smart as a whip and very witty. He was stern and direct, but kind at heart. I can still hear him scream out “flame on” when he saw me, due to the way I styled my hair. A play on the way my hair looked like the flames coming off Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four. We must keep the memories of our lost ones alive. RIP Roberto Duran. Love you, shipmate!
