James Burke Vose

Policeman James Vose was killed when his motorcycle crashed while trying to avoid another vehicle. He was chasing another vehicle when the crash occurred near the intersection of Ventura Boulevard and Encino Avenue.

Policeman Vose was transported to Georgia Street Receiving Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries three hours after the collision.

Policeman Vose was a U.S Army veteran of WWII with the 32nd Infantry Division in New Guinea and the Philippines and was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He had served with the Los Angeles Police Department for three years.

Officer Vose,
On today, the 75th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just for your Community but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S, Army as a member of the 32nd “Red Arrow” Infantry Division in the Pacific fighting the Japanese during World War II. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
