Charles Richard Norred

Officer Charles Norred was killed in an automobile crash while pursuing a burglary suspect on Redan Road.

The patrol car left the roadway at a high rate of speed and struck a utility pole, sheering the patrol car in two. Officer Norred was killed instantly and his partner was critically injured.

The subject was arrested and sentenced to only one year in jail.

Officer Norred had served with the DeKalb County Police Department for only six months. He was survived by his expectant wife, parents, sister, niece, and nephew.
