Reflections for Police Officer William Coleman Cook

Never a worry. Never a broken word or bond. Always your straight up assurances that Dade County would be fixed up and properly served by a loving man and a hero of humility honored by his work habits. You gave so much, Officer Cook, for the welfare of those citizens who relied upon your basic instincts to survive and to achieve a purpose, a passion to complete a mission of resolve, hope, goodwill and faith. Today, things are not the same and will never be since you left your family and colleagues over forty-one years ago taken by evil and having your valor uprooted from those branches of boldness and guidance. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Character and commitment are transparency's words of trust and truth if justice is to be served.

To celebrate is to honor. To pay homage to a hero is to remember. You lived a very exemplary life, Officer Cook, filled with smiles and esteemed good nature that just started to make inroads within the Dade County community where your most vital service, honesty and integrity should not have been disrupted by one cowardly man's lack of dignity and respect for authority as you were just trying to calm him down and have him surrender before worse problems arose. Always a hero of resolve and resourceful ambition complete with ideals, values, morals and scruples. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Most of us dare to dream. How are we to do anything else? You wanted to become a policeman, Officer Cook, from the time as a young boy and when you reached a certain age you attended the academy and started what should have been a long career until retirement. Nothing hurts worse than having a life snuffed out by a vile and heinous individual while providing much needed uplifting services to the folks of Dade County. All heart and soul, every ounce and word of honor, reverence and respect poured by those cups of courage and dignity. The goodwill of faith, devotion and integrity flowing freely within your veins of valor. Never more heroic and always for a sacred purpose in mind. Safety and peril are two different components of life and must be distinguished. An angel forever in his family and colleagues' hearts, thoughts and prayers. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.
