Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer William Coleman Cook

We convey our feelings to God as He is the ever forgiving king and ruler upon this earth. If we trust in Him, then all we accomplish should be placed within Him as He decides what is best for all of us. Everyday is a test to see if we are up to the challenges that lie ahead. We inscribe so others can read and make out what we are trying to convey. Those courageous women and men who pave the trails for our futures should never be forgotten, only gallantly saluted for their bravery and insightful wisdom and loyalty in leading others. I can say with absolute clarity that you were a pioneer officer during your time, Officer Cook. Passionate about your career, compassionate when having to deal with anyone, citizens or other comrades. You led by example, you performed your tasks with an excellent feeling of care and consideration. Your heroic actions on May 16, 1979, will never go without notice, only remembrances of a humane life, humbly lived and an outstanding career that endeared you to all. God remembers His brave and committed flock of golden angels, you and twenty-one thousand other proficient and highly motivated personalities who answered their calls equally as well. They now have a much more eternally challenging assignment, that is to patrol the golden streets above where no more harm will ever happen to them. Nothing should have ever happened to any of you to begin with, in police work that is not reality as you all accepted the risks and rewards willingly and without regret that come from such fine distinguished service to all mankind. All of you had more to fulfill, to live and to able to retire on your terms when the time was deemed proper. Officer Cook, you were a great man with a giant heart and a very engaging and gregarious personality to match and all of this is missed today by your cherished family, esteemed friends and colleagues. Mrs. Cook, I still say my prayers for you, your son was a wonderful man, devoted to all the right causes of peace, liberty and unity for all. Chief Jacobs, your friend, Bill Cook, Officer William C. Cook, was an esteemed friend, classmate at Norland High School and the Miami-Dade Police Academy, he will never be forgotten for his valor, devotion, desire, determination and most of all his dignity, honor and integrity. That was ingrained within him and his sister, Nancy, from the time they were youngsters. The lessons of life and its messages seem to last with some, the Cook family valued these messages and they comported themselves with proper respect at all times. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

The light of the sun is sometimes too bright, we must squint in order to see. You may not be taking in the air that supplies your lungs with the proper oxygen level. We must live our lives as we see fit, but try and keep this in mind, that we should endeavor to prosper and accomplish so long as we are living. Honor and dignity must be the foundations to maintaining health and a semblance of decorum. You lived your life, Officer Cook, based upon these standards. Your police career was exemplified by these mannerisms as well. You ran. You walked. You went wherever you were called to answer any problem that would occur and you succeeded mightily where others have not. You were brave and courageous, conscientious in all your undertakings. No one could ever dispute this fact. You left us way too soon, sadly, but, the world, Dade County citizens are better off today because of your gallantry and valor thirty-five years ago. You were not only a model citizen, you were a role model police officer, a professional above and beyond the calls of duty. Your treasured spirit still blows in the wind and at night when we retire to slumber, it shines very brightly as do the stars above. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

As the winds of power swirl around us, give happiness to all humans and to all who ever will live on this earth. To all who disappear or who are injured grant them a speedy recovery and help those who search for their loved ones. We spread our affections to those who look for bliss, may they increase. Make our hearts cheerful and spread goodness throughout society. Well or not heal those infirmed, watch over the person less fortunate and bring them fun. Alleviate ignorance and poverty, give strength to make all stand proud and tall. May the eyes of all look hopefully to Thee and give them their food in due season. We hear a voice, Yours awakens those who slumber and so it is life being watched by our Lord, the maker of all things. The Lord made you, Officer Cook, humble and brave, dignified and honest so you would be able to do battle with evil everyday. Police officers come in all mannerisms and it is these character traits which must be properly utilized when they are out on all calls. Intense and intelligent made you the self-confident public servant admired and respected by those people whose lives were forever changed by your gallantry and valor. That courage is not always seen so passionately observed today and that is exactly why we salute men and women like yourself, Officer Cook, who rose to the challenge and were undaunted in facing wickedness face to face. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. your cheery face and positive outlook is surely missed very much today. You have and always will remain in our hearts, those that beat steadily in your loving family members and in the colleagues and friends you amassed through your lifetime experiences. Time marches on as the winds blow, your spirit continues to brighten our society and any darkness that covers our land.

To the older person, we the younger individuals have been here just a short time and we act like we remember quite a lot. In reality we have forgotten what it is like to live a long and prosperous life as you have. If we all want to achieve, we must all try to co-exist in peace and unity. We live for the moment no matter the season, so there is a reason as to why God created each season as He surely arranges the stars in their courses in the skies. You arranged your life, Officer Cook and truly worked hard to plan and to map out a well balanced career. Police officers have plenty to ponder and they must act not just bravely, but with a certain honesty and dignity that allows them to steer through their venues of service and protection and survive as best they can. Your resourcefulness never will be forgotten, nor any acts of heroism that you so professionally displayed while assisting Dade County and its residents. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. We live our days as best we can, we assume we are entitled to a long life, but only Our Savior knows better.

We bless You O Lord, who are in heaven, holy is Your name. All the soft meadows and high mountains. You who give wisdom to all mankind let them bless You. The wisdom You impart to all, allow those to praise you. You were precisely the very consummate police officer, Officer Cook, who lived your life, carved out a humble career and who gave his life with the highest code of honor and scruples to enhance all of Dade County. When heroes and heroines go out and patrol the streets in an effort to make them safer, we must laud these officers who personify the very essence of what it means to be brave and courageous. As one of God's children, living to a ripe old age should have been afforded to you, to live a quiet and fulfilling life with Karen, to be able to retire on your terms, tragically we don't get to make or plan for these situations. You were nevertheless, a true Godsend, a humane and devoted professional whose character of determination and dedication will always precede your good name. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Like a little bird singing, we too should sing Your praises O Lord for You are Our Creator. You comfort in times of distress and allow us to rejoice in times of happiness. If birds can chirp and trees can grow and blossom, then why can't we do the same? Whether at night or at daybreak, let us fully enjoy the richness of this great land of opportunity, peace, liberty, unity and prosperity for every person. All people at entitled to choose as they may what makes them happy and then to pursue it with all the vigor and zest for life they we may possess. You possessed this zest, Officer Cook and if not for your honor, courage and bravery, no telling how the landscape of Dade County and its citizens would look like today. Your quest to lead other officers and the very knowledge you humbly obtained by intense and sometimes rigorous training that made you the very cherished, valued and highly resourceful officer you became during your watch of six years. Cut way too short, tragically because of a troubled young man's intentions to hurt those men and women like yourself who fought the battles day in and day out to properly maintain law and order with integrity and dignity attached to their uniforms. Your service to all folks stands today as your legacy among Dade County police heroes and heroines. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

We have been given the ideals of thought and joy. Let them walk as one. Don't tread upon them nor tamper with them as they serve as our guardians to a peaceful and relaxing life. Do not interrupt God's divine message, you may tremble with fear, but let the troubled person be alone in their thoughts until the time is right to assist them. With the greatness we are capable of, we can choose to achieve even more if we stay the course and remain humble and forgiving. Do not tamper with God's creatures, nor speak words of deceit, for they defile and interfere with the words of love and kindness. All share in this responsibility to maintain a certain level of dignity and integrity. It's up to our choosing to do the right thing, police officers have enough on their plates that it is impossible to watch twenty-four seven over us, but they try and do so with bravery, commitment and honor in all their spoken and physical deeds, heroic and challenging as they are. This was your motto, Officer Cook and you carried it out with a renewed sense of urgency and an able body of calming appeal to all residents. The honesty and dignity you delivered to your profession with the Metro-Dade Police Department shall always be held in high regard. Your sacrifice embodied all the stellar character traits that comprised your humbly lived life and career that you accomplished with a total mindset of humility and reliance. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

I meant to say, Officer Cook, that this holiday season serves to unify our community where people of all backgrounds come together for one just cause. Hear our humble cries O Lord, for it is Your wisdom and inspiration that shall lead us away from strife, from pain and suffering and into a blissful harmony. Those who are hungry or thirsty, let them come, eat and drink the fruits of Your unwavering love and affection for all. Grant pity and mercy to all and restore their hearts with a renowned sense of vigor and compassion in Your Name we pray. Make us true friends to all living beings including those that we take in as our pets to love and cherish. You were loved and treasured, Officer Cook, an officer full of kindness and goodwill. Your everlasting spirit brought good cheer, safety and unity to all Dade County citizens. And so it was because of your loyalty, bravery, courage and honorable commitment that we all live in peace and good health to prosper as we choose to. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. This time of year and everyday since you have been missed beyond the comfort of words alone, you have stood humbly as a true police hero whose life dreams and aspirations have helped make a better world for us all.

If I were alone, I might want someone to act as a companion to me. If I were a child, any fears I have would be relieved if I had someone to converse with. This is life, so noble and full of pleasures. It's so overwhelming and can easily seize you by the heart. But this is life, from the day we are born, until the day God calls us to His heavenly shelter. He guides us. He provides us with food, clothing and shelter. The basic necessities. He gives us the strength to overcome any potential challenges that lie ahead of us. He gives life to animals for a reason. He is slow to anger and of magnificent kindness. We just have to pour our hearts out To Him, place our devout trust in Him, act as respectful as He would expect of His creatures. You did all of this, Officer Cook and way more for anyone who could dare to conjure up such thoughts. As a devout man, you worshiped as you chose to worship. Karen and yourself had a great marriage and the sorrow of losing you when you had so much more to fulfill, if only we could comprehend. You were a hero for sure, dedicated to the causes of making Dade County and its residents safer and more secure. You won't be forgotten. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. You lived heroically and gave your life with much honor and humility. I hope Officer Cook as you look down on this community, maybe the light will finally go on and we can catch the killers of Rabbi Raksin on Saturday, August 9, 2014 and those responsible for killing a man on our Jewish New Year we call Rosh Hashanah. He was killed this day on NE 173rd Street and NE 1st Avenue just mowing his lawn. This violence has to be dealt with, you dealt with it doing your very best to eliminate its ugliness from our society.

Let God be involved in everything that you do and accomplish, one will find that the roads to success will not be as bumpy. Our Creator steers each of our compasses in the directions that He finds are for our advantages. God is full of compassion, He is around us at all times and appointed moments. Every living being turns as God turns them. At this time of the year, when our holidays of Chanukah, with the menorah lighting and Christmas, with the lighting of the Christmas tree, this serves to unity our country and our world in peace, good health, prosperity and unity for all. You are surely and sorely missed by your loving family, colleagues and friends, Officer Cook. You truly were the inspirational and courageous member of your family who transferred his passions to another level. That step up was to become the very best police officer within the Metro-Dade Police Department. No doubts regarding your maturity, wit, wisdom and intellect. Coupled with your courage, commitment and resourcefulness it's no wonder you have been forever saluted for your valiant and gallantly humane actions on May 16, 1979. Never one to complain, you achieved humbly because of how you treated all citizens with a sense of rationale, calmness under duress and most of all fairness. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Sweat and toil usually produce the greatest results if applied daily to anything one endeavors to undertake. Police work and its profession underscore this factor and it takes genuine commitment to make it happen.

At night when we lay down to sleep, we offer our sincerest prayers of gratitude. Some who are less fortunate, we pray for their salvation. We say our hellos and goodbyes, for we never know when that might be the last time we greet one another. And we say thank you, Officer Cook, for your benevolence and bravery that touched our very souls. When I look up at these glow in the dark stars in our bedroom at night, I told my wife, Holly, that's Officer Cook's spirit illuminating our lives even though we never had the humble pleasure to meet you. You will always be accounted for as a loyal and faithful Metro-Dade Police Officer, who tried his very best to keep evil austere. Of all its heroes and heroines, faithful, brave and sure always rises like the cream to the top. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. You were the ever so loyal, devout and most high accountable officer, no one ever had to be concerned when you patrolled Dade streets and its residents, binding them in safety and heavenly security.

We wake up to a new day, the blue skies above, we place our souls in God's hands at night to be judged accordingly. We praise Him for all His wonders, our awareness peaks. We stroll or walk across whatever fields we choose to cross. Our eyes see all the splendor and our ears detect the sounds of pleasantness. When dark clouds approach we take shelter, for it is His refuge that shields us from harm. One day we will all sing the very sweet praises of You O Lord, Our Savior and Redeemer. You were our hero, Officer Cook, so bold and brave. Your faithfulness to the calls of duty on behalf of all Dade County residents was like music to our ears. Having those eagle eyes helped keep our calm, liberty, peace and unity. You were a very cherished and most affable person, the kind of police officer we know looked after us. You'll forever be saluted and remembered for your resiliency and diligence. Your valor surely confirms what we all thought along that you cared, at least we should dare to care. You placed yourself in harm's way, there should be someway to repay your dignity in advancing the right causes of society. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

We lie here, we try to produce our sustenance from the knowledge we acquire. God gives His creatures the power to think and endeavor to become whatever we desire to be. The trees and their fruit, our work and the fruitfulness that blossoms from it. Everyday is an incredibly amazing one, just look up to the blue skies where the sun shines bright and at night where the moon is big and bright. The stars come out we look up to the heavens above, where great police officers, a humble and a well respected public servant to all, Officer Cook, where your loving spirit shines the brightest. It was the love and admiration you had for everyone that stays with those you knew forever. You breathed, you achieved, you acted in a classy manner with the everlasting and unwavering bravery and courage so needed to produce a first rate service to all Dade County. You opened many eyes and allowed many to hear your important message my neighbor, friend and hero. The power of honor and dignity did not need to be conjured up from within, it was implanted in you at a young age and this remained with you for your entire life and police career.

The earth we live on sustains us, the water we drink to quench our thirst supplements us. When ill, the medicines we ingest help make us feel better. The winds that blow offer relief to those suffering from heat on a hot day. The moon and all the stars up in the sky allow us to view that which is heavenly. We praise the Lord for instilling all His goodness within His creatures. The homes where we plant our roots are blessed beyond, it is just a matter of realizing how thankful we are and for how much we have. After all, this belongs to God and we must utilize things accordingly. We give thanks for such fine men and women who bravely patrol the streets for our benefit. You were one of Dade County's finest, Officer Cook, humble and self-confident, courageous and sure. Dade county citizens were never let down by you, Officer Cook, maybe we should have done more for you. Your sacrifice stands as a humble remainder to all of us that there are dangers lurking out there and our police officers are there to unselfishly serve and protect. Something you did quite well. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

We praise our parents and to the God above, we offer our heartiest supplications. Rich, sweet and and mind provoking, in our thoughts and in our hearts. The leaves change as the seasons come and pass, we think about the ones we loved and lost. The eagles and birds of all species fly ever so high, looking for food to nourish their bodies. Those men and women, self-confident in all their attributes and abilities, brave and sure, we keep them cherished within our minds. The waters flow, the currents move with the test of time, as does our entire solar system, the planets and their stars shine s bright at night, just like the burning sun by day. Just like a hot sun, dark clouds, steady rain we remember the courage and fortitude you were seemingly always able to muster, Officer Cook, to combat serious problems and endeavor to head them off before they grew out of hand. For the most part, you were to get a handle on these situations. On May 16, 1979, some thirty-five years ago, we still remember the chill and anguish of Dade County and its fine police department losing one of its own heroes. Sensational and superb in action right until your very last breath you gave to safeguard and to secure the freedoms, peace and unity of a community starving for serenity. You made it happen and we can be very grateful and thankful respectfully for your dedication, determination and devotion to the calls of duty. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. North Miami Beach sadly experienced another innocent loss of life on Monday, Dec. 8, 2014, as a young man was killed by the NE 163rd Street mall by Walmart. I say to each resident, when will it all end? You were there, you were Our savior who with God's loving hands you assisted anyone in trouble or who needed whatever they so needed to be comfortable. The area has a motto: where people care. Now is the time to take action, team up with the local police to help get a grip on crime.

When I rise from my slumber each day, I shall give thanks to the Lord, for His mercies endure forever. The birds fly so very high singing the sweet sounds they are accustomed to. Peace rings like a bell, music to our ears. A horn sounds from afar, we give thanks. When those bagpipes were wailing, those who worked and knew you, Officer Cook, sobbed like babies, emotions ran high, they were honoring your memory. The cherished gentleman who gave everything, courage, valor, dignity and integrity. It shined forth then, it shines forever in eternity. As our feet cross the blades of grass where you rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero, once again we give thanks to God, thanks to your devoted and loving parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Julia Cook for raising such a fearlessly fine son, who dared to dream big and accomplished much in life and during your career as a humble and respected hero who had more to fulfill. Our plates have a lot on them, yours my friend is now up in heaven where you are and it is with an everlasting crystal clear vision of yesterday, today and a much more happier tomorrow because of the bravery and courage so exhibited by yourself and those unwilling to ignore this wrath we brand callous and evil. Keep watching over us, it is very much needed.

December 10, 2014

To reiterate your resolve, Officer Cook, goes beyond words. These words you eloquently spoke were always used as motivational instruments in an effort to bring out the best from everyone. No citizen regardless of education, race or creed was only treated in a one-hundred percent classy manner. And it was your unselfish honesty, dignity and integrity that lessened the evil that still hangs around Dade County kind of like a morning fog. Your congenial way of respect towards all people has always been fondly remembered as is your tremendous character in dealing with all circumstances. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Police officers need to be able to function on a level playing field, the streets where they patrol, serve and protect. And unfortunately that is not always possible. They train as you did for all conditions and challenges that are placed at their hands and feet. Today, we face some of the toughest circumstances, but in order to become a better individual, one must try to overcome these impediments utilizing dignity and decorum tied together as one knot.

Sometimes when we are alone within our own quiet moments, the thoughts we have, the sounds we think we are hearing are just Our Creator stirring above us. The sun, the moon, the planets and all the constellations that move across God's beautiful horizon are indeed His glory at work in those mysterious moments. Moments left to cherish for a lifetime. The birds chirp and sing proclaiming a large part of creature and these pleasant times. We can live very well, sometimes too well, overlooking the moments, the opportunities to pray to Our Master and loud Him for all that we possess. Our friends join us as guests, we're thankful nonetheless. When life begins, we praise You and make a meal of tribute in Your honor. The flowers bloom, they blossom full of scent and of different colors. Dawn comes each morning, reawakening and renewing our passions for life and how our day's about to begin. when at day's end, the sun goes down, we are also praising You Our Savior for allowing us to fulfill whatever we choose to accomplish that day. New life is born everyday, from age to age, from strength to strength and with it comes new challenges that we celebrate the chance we receive to champion a particular cause. You challenged yourself daily, Officer Cook, you strived to fulfill your role in this world as our protector and public service guardian to all Dade County residents. Your integrity, valor and dignity all found their way out in the streets of this county, where you patrolled with a passion, compassion for all and bringing humbleness coupled with humility and honor to your loving family members, comrades and the many friends outside of your profession that both you and your beloved wife, Karen, befriended. You were their hero, your memory and the goodwill that you represented is treasured forever as is your legacy as humane as you were, Officer Cook, stellar as they come. You lit the torch, set the example of what honesty and hard work really means. Your devotion, dedication and desire are what remains for other officers to follow. Your path to success started at a young age and remained as steady for all twenty-five years of your life, cut way too short by this terrible element in our society we label wickedness. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero, all of God's blessings shine down upon us and it is our burden, our onus to take responsibility and to act properly and to maintain a semblance of dignity, law and order within our means. This insures the safety, peace and unity of the community and its fine citizens. As you comported yourself,Officer Cook, the least we could all do is try and at least act as civilized and as caring and considerate as yourself.

O how wonderful it is to be a guest somewhere? Waves crashing about, the heaven's scent of a cool fresh breeze. We offer our prayers to You God of mercy and of wondrous miracles. You make things happen for a reason. A reason for the season, snow in the winter, hot and humid weather during the summer. You are always near us when we call upon You. Like a finely cut diamond, polished until it shines brilliantly. We rejoice when the sunrises and when it sets and the moon comes out and illuminates the skies at night, we remember You. We sing Your praises because of yourself, Officer Cook and the many other brave and gallant officers who made the ultimate sacrifice to guarantee our freedom, peace, unity and safety. Dade County, as does all counties around our great nation, takes time to salute with honor and a grand sense of pride and accomplishment, all of its heroes and heroines of yesterday, today and tomorrow. The Metro-Dade Police Department honors you and your comrades for your dedicated and diligent service. We pray for happiness and contentment and your stellar character was the impetus for our prosperity, good health and everyday pleasures, which you had the right to be able to enjoy with your beloved Karen and your family. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Summer, winter, spring and fall, we remember you, Officer Cook. Your humble legacy remains etched upon our minds and within our hearts. When it came time for business, your heart was as big as it could be in helping those to help themselves.

The superlatives have been superbly stated. The eulogies from the Auxliary Bishop and other celebrants eloquently stated. The knots of knowledge, wisdom, compassion and integrity tied forever, laced as neatly as the uniform you donned, Officer Cook, on the first day of your professional police career. Captivating and charming a humble man who set out in search of safety and security in the Dade County venue. The zestful enthusiasm, the vim, the vigor, as much as your valiant attempts to rein in this terror we label evil. You were the consummate police officer who endured on our behalf. You stood toe to toe with an element we brand as dangerous, all the while you were risking your very existence so we the ordinary person could carry on with our lives, careers, aspirations that we actually try to accomplish. The goals that we set to complete with all the self-confidence as you fervently displayed, Officer Cook. The dreams you made part of your young life that you so devoted, dedicated your entire body to achieve through constant, learning, training and practice. They, your department doesn't just put its officers on these streets without going through an intensive trial. All the fine attributes you, Officer Cook and your comrades went through is not just based on trial and error. Being intensely loyal and faithful is not enough. Dignified, toiling through hard work, as is the case with a police academy recruit can identify who belongs with the fraternity and who doesn't. Communication skills are quite ideal, it is with this very mental and physical toughness that helps the supervisors determine who fits the mold. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero, God took an angel to be cherished and treasured forever up to His shelter to patrol His golden streets where nothing will ever again cause you any harm. Though it's still tragically discomforting that you are not here with us to continue your mission and to be holding hands and hugging your family members. Your love and support grows eternally by leaps and bounds.

When will we ever learn to respect and come to cherish all that God gives us? Love and respect begin in the home. One o four very first lessons we all learn from our dear beloved parents. We ask for pardon when we wrong someone and are judged accordingly. As gracious as God is and as He is slow to anger, so too must we behave as such. You learned this lesson, Officer Cook and it stayed with you for your entire lifetime and police career. We pray for peace and harmony and as Your trusted flock of loyal servants, we ask for Your blessings for all the goodness and goodwill to be spread out throughout our world. May we serve with more fervor and with a renewed resiliency. You were diligent, devoted and determined in all your efforts, Officer Cook, the results speak for themselves. Though you left us too soon, the memories of your wonderful life and proud, yet humble police career will stay with us forever. The picture of you in your uniform with the American flag behind you, my, there had to be many proud moments for all of your treasured family members. In God we trust, we put our faith that God is watching you, my neighbor, friend and hero patrolling His golden streets above with the same sense of a calming influence and profound passion as you so vividly displayed here from the time of your birth until you were suddenly taken from among our midst by wanton violence perpetrated by a very troubled young man. You both had rights and now sadly that has been abruptly gone. You'll always be remembered and saluted by myself and my family. I will always keep you, Mrs. Cook in my thoughts and in my prayers. You darling son was a marvelous gentleman who did not deserve any evil placed upon him. He humbly wore the crown of achievement and his heroic actions saved his colleagues and those civilians. Who knows how many more may have perished if not for his boldness and quick thinking actions that day of May 16, 1979?

By the marvelous grace, O Lord have You brought forth the many creatures, constellations and so forth. From the heights of mountains and hilltops do we offer our prayers to You. In wisdom and in abounding kindness have You allowed us to think, plan and ponder our most important decisions in our lives, careers, whatever we plan to achieve. Arrogance, ignorance and greed shall be replaced with words such as: honesty, dignity and integrity. One can travel much further down the tracks if they can keep things simple and basic and just focus on these three words. Police officers have enough trouble these days seemingly being able to allow these words to infiltrate their workspace. My neighbor, friend and hero, Officer Cook, you were a humble and loyal public servant. You lived humbly, acted humanely to all persons you ever came across and conducted all your personal and professional affairs with honor, courage in commitment and with valor. So there will never be any qualms regarding your conduct or your preoccupation in helping make peace, freedom and unity a reality for Dade County and its citizens. In life we take risks to make this a safer world, you undertook these risks, Officer Cook and by your brave actions you helped to change the landscape forevermore. Your handiwork enabled us the right to worship, to live, to breathe and whatever we choose to accomplish because of your unwavering success in helping Our Master lessen evil and its harmful effects on society. You were a gifted man, a wise gentleman, whose wit, loyalty and sense of humor will remain etched in the hearts of all those who knew you, respected and adored you. Pollution, destruction, erosion and an environment poisoned by wickedness has been made a little smaller by you compassionate acts of courage and pride never to be forgotten. Rest in peace. The sweet smell of success is being brought down from heaven, hopefully it will carry over to those officers who choose to inhale its magnificent scent.

A man of ideals, a police officer on a crusade to rid this world of the very violence that took you too soon from it. The courage to collaborate and to consolidate all of your goals, dreams and aspirations into one standard and by that standard you performed your professional responsibilities with all the class, honesty, dignity and the integrity so vital, Officer Cook, that you were a large part of helping to eliminate the chains of evil which still handcuff our many communities nationwide. No man from your family, friends and comrades will ever dispute or question your infinite wisdom, wit and leadership skills you acquired through very intense training. Your participation in our community as a trusted, loyal and dedicated public servant serves forevermore as the stimulus for how all other police officers need to conduct their personal and professional conduct. You were above reproach my neighbor, friend and hero and are to be humbly saluted and revered for having the intestinal fortitude and intuition to truly make a difference in the hearts and souls of all Dade County citizens. Rest in peace. The tragedy that took your young life should never ever happen to any other officer again. "We Shall Be One" the words on your gravestone have a profoundly deep meaning, as they are meant to awaken us all to the calls of duty. Laying back won't produce the desired results, action not talk, usually gets it done. You have to "walk the walk," not talk and talk. The world relies on its creatures to improve it by actions and good deeds. Something you aspired to be and got done during your twenty-five faithfully fulfilling and fruitful years of service to all people.

I meant to say, Officer Cook, that it was through your humble ways that you allowed the opportunity to patrol a community where you were revered and admired. Bless us O Lord, for allowing Your arc to perpetually surround us each and every morning that the sun rises and each evening that the sun sets. For Your friendship to all Your creatures is a blessing only mankind can realize. The miracles and challenges that You present to all serve as a test, a wake up call to stimulate our souls to repent and to act accordingly. For those who have violated Your laws and statutes we pray for their redemption and for the chance to make a change for a more peaceful life. For all your convictions, Officer Cook, for your courage to commitment, the pride you brought to all, your family, your colleagues and friends from all over, you are to be saluted as your treasured life has been celebrated. Men and women who grow up in an upbringing of honor and decency need to be thanked over and over for their work, their toil in this age where wickedness still spreads its cover over this very society. Your contribution, Officer Cook, along with your other comrades who paid the ultimate price for peace, freedom and unity shall be duly noted and celebrated even when the day comes when evil no longer exists. But make no mistake, we still need faithfully serving police officers whose dignity and integrity grace our nation. Your grace and gregarious personality will never be forgotten. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. I try sincerely to get the you and your properly affixed in each reflection I leave in your honor, honoring a true hero whose good name and valiant actions precedes your legendary humble life and police career. Forty-two officers serving a common cause and laying down everything for our security, prosperity and good health. The battle continues as you all look down from the heavens above on those who took over your watches.
