Reflections for Sheriff Ferd Bryan

Ferd Bryan was my great uncle (my maternal grandfather's only brother). We worked for the US Capitol Police in D.C. before returning to Hall County. He served as a Hall County Deputy Sheriff for about 8 years before eventually being elected Hall County Sheriff. Less than 2 years in office, he was involved in a physical struggle while aresting a "mentally disturbed" man. Shortly after the arrest, Sheriff Bryan complained of shortness of breath among other symptoms and was taken to a local hospital where he passed away less than 2 days later. Ferd Bryan is apparently the only Hall County Sheriff to die in the line of duty. In addition, his wife Connie Bryan, completed his term in office becoming the one and only female, to this day, to be Sheriff of Hall County.
