Reflections for Deputy Sheriff David Stan Piquette
Deputy Piquette, Academy class 415 had the honor to participate in your memorial run. It was very inspirational to hear other recruits talk about your legacy and your devotion to the department. I could not attend the memorial run because I was at EVOC but I did have the honor to meet your parents. It was a heartwarming feeling that your parents are treated like family within the department and how your legacy continues. You are truly someone to look up to, rest easy, and thank you.

Deputy Piquette, myself and 86 other recruits were honored to participate in your memorial run that you participated in 2 days before you past. The class was honored to take part in the run for a fellow member of our LASD family. The motivation we felt for supporting you and your family and being a part of your LASD family will be something I will never forget. Our class was able to meet your mother and she is an amazing woman and shows that your legacy still lives on. We just had your memorial run. All your friends still remember you. We could never forget you. Lisa and her family came and helped decorate your memorial with balloons and flowers. I have a friend at flower shop, Lorena, and she donates flowers to you every week. Dad and I put them on the freeway for you. We love and miss you a lot. I think of you every single day.

Dave, you were a guest coach for IHS Wrestling while I was on the team and over the years I've often thought about how you carried yourself when you visited us in the mat room. You set a good example for young people to look up to. I still include you in the group of LE professionals who I try to honor when I train, I remember you not for how you died, but for how you lived. To me, that is your legacy. May God continue to watch over your family and your colleagues.
